Learning from Creative and Talented People

I want to share an incredible night with you and tell you about the amazing people who made it so special.  Last Tuesday, I performed at Gigi’s Kitchen Bakery & Cafe, in Brentwood, TN., which is a nice suburb just south of Nashville.  Our family friend here, Grant Gaston, who has been very instrumental in helping me with my career, not only put the night together, but also invited many of his friends to attend (Thanks, Grant!).  He is good friends with the restaurant owner, Gigi Butler, who in her own right is one of the most creative people I’ve ever met.  She not only has a past here in Nashville as a country music singer, but also has been very successful in business.  At one time, Gigi owned more than 100 Gigi’s Cupcake stores, with 1,500 employees in 24 states, selling over 1 million cupcakes!!!  If that doesn’t make her name sound familiar to you, you may know her from the reality TV show she was on, “Undercover Boss”.  On the show, she dressed as a hippie to go undercover in 5 of her cupcake shops. She found inconsistencies in her stores from recipes to the way people were greeted.  Her takeaway was, “If you don’t have consistency with the brand, you’re done.  You’re dead.”  Since then, she has enjoyed the success of selling her stores to start new ventures – Gigi’s pies and now Gigi’s Kitchen Bakery & Cafe.  I love studying others in business, like Gigi, and am always able to learn from them and apply their knowledge into my business of being in the music industry.  Her creativity is beyond, and she is successful because she has created a recognizable and consistent brand.  That is my focus for my CQ music brand.  Thank you, Gigi, for your business wisdom and for having me sing at your amazing restaurant.

After booking Gigi’s gig, I was able to invite two other artists to perform with me.  So, I chose some of the most talented artists I've met, who both happen to have very impressive bios.

Here is just a little bit about them:

Dustin Herring is an artist I met through him contacting me a couple months ago on Instagram.  He DM’d me to say he really liked my website and asked who created it because he’d like to hire them to do his.  I told him I built my own website, so his team hired me.  Through doing this, I have really become familiar with Dustin and his music and believe me when I tell you – HE IS TALENTED!  Go follow him and see for yourself.  He is an award-winning songwriter and has opened for dozens of well-known performers including Jamey Johnson, Ashley McBryde, Mark Chesnutt and many more.

Jesse Labelle is a dear friend of mine, who I met right when I moved to Nashville.  He has opened for Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, Eric Church, FGL and Jason Aldean to Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, and Brad Paisley to name a few.  I wanted him to sing before me on Tuesday, so I could say he has now opened for me…..but the boys said, “ladies first”, so that didn’t happen☹ ha,ha!  Jesse is the MOST ENGAGING PERFORMER – His incredible voice and energy really gets the crowd going!  He is also an award-winning song writer.  Below, is a song I wrote with him and my producer, Ben Simonetti.  I sang it for the first time in public last Tuesday, so here it is for you.

Here’s the sneak peek of “Take Only What You Need”.
It will be released in a few months.

"Take Only What You Need".
Written by Caitlin Quisenberry, Ben Simonetti & Jesse Labelle

*A very special thanks goes to my grandma, Sharon for flying in from Colorado to see me sing and to my brother, Cole who drove 8 hours to be there (not pictured, haha)!
