ANZAC Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony 2021

The Town of Cambridge and RSL Cambridge Sub Branch invite you to the 2021 ANZAC Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.

The Town of Cambridge and RSL Cambridge Sub Branch Ceremony will be held at 7.50am on Sunday, 25 April at the West Leederville Memorial Garden and Cenotaph.

We are pleased that full services can return this year after the COVID-19 pandemic caused commemorations across the nation to be cancelled or switched to virtual events in 2020.

At the conclusion of the Ceremony, a free Community Breakfast will be held at the Leederville Sporting club.

To ensure a quiet and reflective ceremony, Cambridge Street will be closed from 7.30am to 9.30am between Kerr and Abbotsford Street.

Free parking will be available from 7am to 12pm on Abbotsford Street, Holyrood Street and car park L20.

The Native Plant Subsidy Scheme is back!

The Town, in partnership with WESROC, offers residents the opportunity to purchase subsidised local native seedlings throughout May.

The offer encourages and supports residents to use sustainable and water-wise local native plants in their gardens and verges.

Residents can purchase up to 80 plants per household at the subsidised price of $1.75 each from APACE Nursery from 1 May until sold out.

You will need to provide a document that indicates you are a Town of Cambridge resident when making your purchase such as your driver’s license, rates notice or similar.

Residents can also enter into the Town's Sustainable Verge Garden Awards by using their local native plants to create a sustainable and waterwise verge, with a first place prize of $500.

Art @ The Boulevard has a new exhibition!

The Town of Cambridge is proud to support local artists by showcasing their works in an exclusive exhibition at The Boulevard Centre.

Glynis Morrison's 'North and South' exhibition, featuring oil and acrylic pieces on canvas, will be on display until the end of May.

Influenced by the world around her, the exhibition reflects two different landscapes; 'North' being the colours, textures and movements of the coastal scene and 'South' the landscape of Margaret River.

The exhibition is open for viewing from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday in The Boulevard Centre Gallery.

Coastal Hazard Risk Adaptation and Management Plan Consultation

We're inviting the community to be involved in our CHRMAP process.

The Town of Cambridge’s beaches are well-loved by local residents and those residing in surrounding areas of Perth’s western suburbs, as well as visitors and tourists who travel to enjoy them.

In 2012, coastal councils in Perth’s south west undertook research that found approximately $1.2 billion worth of assets were at risk from erosion, including many of the Town’s assets. Further, Floreat Beach was identified as an erosion hotspot in a 2019 study commissioned by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Department of Transport.

As such, the Town has appointed the consultant team of Cardno, element and the University of Western Australia to assist in developing a Coastal Hazard Risk Adaptation and Management Plan (CHRMAP) for its coastline, to inform future adaptation and management options.

The State Planning Policy 2.6 provides guidance on the planning principles and guidelines required for coastal development in Western Australia. It advocates the CHRMAP process as an effective approach to managing coastal zones that are vulnerable to present and future hazards.

You can get involved by:
  • Taking our online survey here (open from 13 April 2021 until 4 May 2021)
  • Attend our Pop in Session to learn about the project and what a CHRMAP involves (Thursday 29 April from 3pm – 7pm at the City of Perth Surf Lifesaving Club)
  • Stakeholder workshops (further details to be announced)
  • Final Pop in Session to announce the Draft CHRMAP report and collect feedback (details to be announced).
