Praying College Moms
Spring Rosary

Thursday, April 29
7:00 - 8:30 pm

Together let us pray the Rosary of Our Lady to bless and protect our college aged young adults, and in praise for their successful completion of studies. We will pray for over 600 young adults' continued good health, protection from Covid19, sanctity, good judgment, holy friendships, success in academic and career studies, moral strength and fortitude, safe travels, and a desire to keep Jesus and Our Lady close to them in all times of their lives….

“For now, his voice reaches us through words spoken by good people, through listening to spiritual talks, and reading sacred literature. God calls to us in countless little ways all the time. Through illnesses and suffering and through sorrow he calls to us. Through a truth glimpsed fleetingly in a state of prayer he calls to us. No matter how halfhearted such insights may be, God rejoices whenever we learn what he is trying to teach us.”
St. Teresa of Avila, Interior Castle

Harmony News

The Praying College Moms Parish Groups throughout the area have continued their monthly meetings via Zoom. Despite the COVID 19 distance factor, we are blessed with a sense of solidity, confraternity, and support as we minister and pray in these Pandemic times.

Some groups are focused on saying the Rosary, for the health and well being of their families, their parish, and the world. Other groups use the time together to discuss predetermined topics of relevance in their lives, and the lives of their young adults, followed by personal intentions and prayer. Yet others  are reading and sharing chapters from Maribeth Harper's book: "...And So We Pray: Guidance for Moms with College-Aged Young Adults", ending with intentions and prayer.

For four Sunday afternoons, in late February through March, a weekly Zoom Seminar "The Understanding and Practice of Contemplative Prayer in Everyday Life" was offered by Frances Chamberlin, OCDS (St. Mark Parishioner), to Moms that had attended the January PCM Seminar on 'Divine Trust'. Each session embraced 'how to'  pray contemplatively, with progressive instruction, practice, and time for questions and answers.  Brighter faces and more peaceful hearts emerged each Sunday at the end these sessions! The sessions will continue weekly, as requested, and will be open to new participants. Please contact Frances Chamberlin for more information.

The WINGS, A Women's Prayer Group from a parish in California, sent out a request for Frances Chamberlin to give the PCM Zoom Seminar on 'Divine Trust', with a Lenten theme, on March 25. Thirty-five women of all ages participated in the seminar. Following the talk, there were group break out sessions with questions from the talk including "God has given us all thorns in our lives. Why don't we let God just take care of them?" Lively conversation followed!  The seminar was warmly received.

Pope Francis Proclaims “Year of St Joseph”

In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis describes Saint Joseph as a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, an accepting father; a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows. Vatican News

Novena for Family Intentions to St. Joseph
- St. Teresa of Jesus

“I wish I could persuade everyone to be devoted to this glorious Saint, for I have great experience of the blessings which he can obtain from God. I have never known anyone to be truly devoted to him and render him particular services who did not notably advance in virtue, for he gives very real help to souls who commend themselves to him. For some years now, I think, I have made some request of him every year on his festival and have always had it granted. If my petition is in any way ill directed, he directs it aright for my greater good.”

NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH

Saint Joseph, man of prayer, help us to stand with you before God, humble, attentive, faith-filled, awaiting the loving mercy of His providence. Teach us to pray as you did, with the inner simplicity and trust of silent prayer and the purity and strength of worship in union with our brothers and sisters.

The whole world is your child, Joseph. Be protector and advocate for the searching and the sorrowing, the struggling and the straying, for all of us who long for peace and the fullness of life.

We ask you to intercede for our needs and in particular for the following intention. (Mention your intention.) We also place all the concerns of our relatives and friends in your care.

Enfold us and those we love in your prayer, Father Joseph. Obtain for us the daily bread we need for this life, so that we may come at last in your company to the eternal joy of heaven. Amen.

Support Your Ministry with Your Gifts

The PCM ministry offers online monthly parish meetings, and other events, via Zoom, as we all evaluate the effectiveness of the new gene therapy/vaccines and the impact of the new variants in the communities over the coming months.  Rest assured, our ministry will continue, but with a new look for now. Until then, consider how you can support your ministry with your gifts. Tell us what you and your parish are doing for young adults!
