National Foster Care Month is a time to recognize that we can each play a part in enhancing the lives of children and youth in foster care. In Philadelphia alone, there are 5,000 children in care and we need more Resource Parents (foster care parents) to give them a loving home. Even if you can’t foster, someone you know may can. Foster a child. Foster Love.

Family Finding provide resources and services to youth in foster care. Specialized case managers work with youth involved with the child welfare system to connect them with family members that they may have been disconnected from or finds positive family members they may have never known. These friends or family connections found by the Family Finding team agree to be a resource to these youth, and in some cases they are willing to become a permanent adult in the child's life.

Family Finding celebrated its 10 year anniversary last fall and we’re proud to share their success over the last decade.

• This team is passionate and it shows in their 99.9% success rate.

• Since 2010, they have identified more than 170,503 possible relatives of foster youth

• Confirmed 24,111 as supports. That means they have agreed to have a relationship with the youth and contact them.

• In 2020 they were able to serve 613 families and identify 10,000 new family members.

Mary’s mind began to race with questions. What kind of life had he been living? Who had been taking care of him? How many foster homes had he been in?

The Family Finding Specialist took her through the details of Andrew’s placements and provided insight about his personality. One thing was for sure, Andrew had trouble trusting people.

During the conversation, Mary told the specialist that she felt if Andrew could meet her, his whole life would begin to change for the better.
