Finding the Resurrected Jesus With Bishop Susan Goff
In this Zoom class we will learn new ways to experience Jesus in our daily lives. Episcopal bishop and teacher Susan Goff shows us how the Resurrected Jesus meets us today.
It's not as difficult as the children's book 'Where's Waldo?' but finding Jesus in our daily lives can take just as much attention.
Episcopal bishop, writer, and speaker Susan Goff knows this. In her many years of ordained ministry she has helped a lot of people find Christ in the average, everyday, and mundane. In this course she walks us through three venues in order to help us better understand Christ's ever-present ministry:
Finding Jesus in the Movies
Finding Jesus in Creation
Finding Jesus in Others
This class will be facilitated by Fr Tommy Dillon Join Zoom Meeting HERE
We are growing here at St. Margaret's and what better way to showcase that growth than an outdoor worship for the whole church where our children are able to get involved! This year to celebrate Earth Day we will have an intergenerational worship service followed by a garden party! We will be enjoying our new Meditation Garden and outdoor altar. Please bring seating or blankets for the service and you must wear a mask. The service will conclude at 11AM and the gardening, crafts and activities will follow. You are welcome to pack a picnic and share the afternoon with us!
Wear play clothes.
St. Margaret’s Renovation Team for Children and Youth Ministries (CYM) Update
In the spring of 2020, Ministry Architects was hired to conduct a survey and focus groups regarding the needs of our children and youth at St. Margaret’s. In August of 2020, Ministry Architects provided a 30-page assessment of our parish. Since the release of the document, a Renovation Team (RT) and Prayer Team were selected. The RT and has met monthly beginning September 2020, with support from the Prayer Team.
Ministry Architects met with the entire RT monthly through January 2021. From that date forward, Ministry Architects meets monthly with the Chair of the RT. Those meetings address tailoring the extensive Timeline of events (created by Ministry Architects) to the needs of St. Margaret’s children, youth and families. We also look for ways to integrate the children and youth into the life and ministries of the Church, working with the Rector, Vestry and Treasurer and Ministry directors to identify areas which overlap in purpose and data collection; and, finally identifying pressure points which have arisen during the implementation process which need to be addressed. The current members of the RT are Judy Fry, Jenny Hastings, Kathy Meyer, Julie Parrish (through August) and Jean Faria, serving as Chair. Connie Doughty was hired as the staff Children’s Ministry Director in December.
To date the RT has: developed a calendar of children’s annual events; created volunteer and staff job descriptions for those working with our children; identified all children and youth who have attended St. Margaret’s tracking dates of birth, attendance and family contact information; created a list of milestones for children and youth from birth through senior year (e.g. baptism, blessing of the back packs and blessing of the keys, to name a few) with appropriate gift items to mark these and other significant events; researched and selected a Sunday School curriculum for calendar year 2021; begun recruiting for Sunday School volunteers who have or will complete Safeguarding God’s Children and background checks; cleaned and organized the nursery; begun searching for qualified nursery workers; created a budget process to track all expenses associated with CYM.
With the help of numerous volunteers, we have planned, budgeted and held events for: Halloween, Advent, Christmas, Movie Night, St. Patrick's and Easter. On April 18, 2021 we will hold our first intergenerational service and event celebrating Earth Day. The RT has also planned and calendared a Mother’s Day celebration on Saturday, May 8th and a Father’s Day celebration on June 12th. As with all events at the Church COVID-19 protocols will continue until further word from the Bishop.
Additionally, we intend to continue Sunday School through the Spring; to produce an integrated monthly calendar listing the CYM and Church events on the website as well as on paper within a printed CYM brochure, after collaboration with the Welcome, Connect Ministry.
Behind all this work is continuous data collection, updating and integrating software programs and systems, creating electronic and hardcopy files and binders containing job descriptions, milestones, special events books, releases, waivers, volunteer training and recognition programs and more.

St Margaret's Ministry Booklet is here!
We thank the Invite*Welcome*Connect team, especially Ronny Daley, Bill Bethea, and our ministry leaders, for providing information for the booklet which helps people learn about the ministries of the parish and how to get involved with each ministry.
