This World Refugee Day, we are back!

After 8 months, a lot of hard work and community support, the Centre for Refugees has finally recovered from the devastating fire. We are happy to say that we have opened our doors to our clients and guests in time for World Refugee Day, 2021.

The Rebuild

The intention of the rebuild was to create a flexible and carefully calculated space, one that can be used to serve our community in the best way possible.

As part of the rebuild, we now have a drop-in recreational space, complete with a reception, TV, library, Xbox, children’s play area and computer station, for our clients to relax, unwind and build community ties. Our centre is now also equipped with two dedicated counselling rooms to supplement our growing psychosocial program.

The dining room and pantry have been strategically designed with a moving divider, enabling the dining room to be used for various programs, such as homework support for the children, while their parents are busy cooking up a delicious meal in the kitchen. This is a great addition to our multifunctional activity room for various programs and events through the week.

Thank you!

This rebuild could not be done without the support and love of the Hong Kong community. We strive to provide dignity and hope to the most vulnerable, and the warmth, functionality and accessibility of the Centre for Refugees helps us do just that.
