First Things ~ April 14
Dear Church Family,

Sabbatical
I’m so grateful to a church that puts into place an opportunity to have time away. I’m also grateful to have a competent staff who can continue the ministry without my presence.

First Baptist has been generous in providing a period of rest and regeneration for staff after having served seven years in full time ministry. Beginning Sunday April 18th Leigh Ann and I will be away for the next four weeks. In my absence you will hear some wonderful preaching. Please be present and pray for each of these men as they open God’s Word to you.

Sunday Service for ~ April 11th

Worship Times of 8:30 & 11:00
On April 14th, Wednesday Night activities will resume at FBC!
These will last seven weeks through the remainder of April and all of May. From 5-6pm, there will be a meal. We will have a different approach to the meals than usual, mixing up ordering out, hosting food trucks, and grilling on site! This will require you and your family to order your meals by Tuesday of that week.
ORDER MEALS HERE
The Bible studies & activities will begin at 6pm. The preschool, children, and youth will have activities and there will also be two study options for adults. K-5 will be using the 7 weeks to study the book of Romans and deepen their understanding of the gospel. There will be a ladies study (Finding I AM) led by Leigha Taylor. There will also be an Open Bible Study (Lamentations: Crying Out with Hope) led by Wesley Dunn. We hope that you will make plans to join us for these wonderful opportunities at FBC!
Ladies Bible Study:
Finding I Am: See How Jesus Fully Satisfies The Cry Of Your Heart
What is the deep cry of your heart? That ache in your soul that keeps you up at night? The prayer you keep repeating? Jesus not only cares about this deep, spiritual wrestling, but He also wants to step in and see you through it.

Join Lysa TerKeurst on the streets of Israel to explore the seven I AM statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. Through this interactive, in-depth study, you will learn to:
  • Trade feelings of emptiness and depletion for a more personal fulfillment from knowing who Jesus is.
  • Stop living like a slave to your circumstances by training your heart to embrace the life-giving freedom God wants for you.
  • Gain a better understanding of how Jesus' words 2,000 years ago are so very applicable to the answers we are searching for today.
This study will be facilitated by Leigha Taylor and will meet at 6pm in FBC’s choir room (230).
Open Bible Study
Lamentations: Crying Out with Hope
“Unlike made-for-TV movies, real life rarely resolves itself cleanly. The paper-thin veneer of ‘a perfect Christian life’ is a modern invention crafted with the tools of Western consumerism. The idyllic life, untouched by pain, is simply not in the Bible or in the long history of the church. That’s good news. The incongruence we find in our lives is what God knows. After all, it is only comforting that God is with us if we are in fact walking the valley of the shadow of death.” —Stephen Smith | Why do God’s people lament? How do God’s people lament? Do I even know how to lament? And if I lament, how can I do it with hope in the ever-faithful God?

Join us for this study on Wednesday evenings beginning on April 14th at 6pm in FBC’s West Chapel (Room 166).
Youth

Youth (6-12 grade) will continue activities Wednesday, April 14!

From 5-6, students are encouraged to eat, fellowship, and hangout in the youth room.

From 6-7, we move to The REC for a devotional through selected passages in Philippians and participate in various games, including but not limited to: kickball, bubble soccer, and outdoor messy games.
Preschool & Children

We are kicking off Children's Wednesday Nights (K-5) on April 14th with a Neon Party!! Wear neon colors and come ready to have fun and dig into Romans! Every week we'll look at a different chapter of the book to answer the question: What is the Gospel and why is it the most important thing in the world?

Preschool will have Bible study and activities during this time as well!
In the Pulpit This Week
~ April 18 ~
Andy Waldroup has served as Lead Pastor of Safe Harbor Baptist in Georgetown, KY since 2015. He and his wife of 16 years, Dana, are blessed with 4 children: Joshua (12), Matthew (8), Laurel (6), and Luke (3).

Andy is originally from Owensboro and grew up attending First Baptist until he attended the University of Kentucky and moved to Lexington. His parents, Denny and Lee Waldroup, remain actively involved members of First Baptist. Andy has many fond memories of FBC and is thankful for the faithful gospel witness of the church in his life and the many members who invested in him and his spiritual growth.

He came to know Jesus as Savior and Lord through an evangelistic event of FBC and publicly professed faith in Jesus through baptism at the age of 8. After attending UK, Andy worked as an engineer and served as a teacher and deacon in their church in Lexington, until the Lord revealed a clear call to ministry in 2011.

He attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville and began in ministry serving as an intern and campus pastor with Porter Memorial Baptist in Lexington until the Lord called Andy, Dana, and their family to Safe Harbor. His wife, Dana, is actively involved in ministry primarily through leading the children’s ministry and discipling women. They are thrilled at how the Lord has worked and is at work in the congregation they serve in the fastest growing county in Kentucky.
