Input needed for future meteorological and disaster resilience space mission

Under the Australian Civil Space Strategy 2019-2028, the Australian Space Agency is creating a series of seven technology roadmaps, including the Australian Space Agency Earth Observation Technology Roadmap. To support this roadmap the Australian Bureau of Meteorology is developing the “Technical Feasibility Study into Australian Development of a Meteorological and Disaster Resilience Space Mission”
As part of the process for preparing the report, the following Request for Information (RFI) process is being conducted to detail any current Australian missions and/or projects that may be considered as candidates for this proposed Space Mission.
The survey will close Monday 19 April 2021.

EOS' new laser to mitigate space debris |

The innovation involves the use of a ‘guide star laser’ to allow high speed adaptive optics to form laser beams that can track and move space debris at lower altitudes and faster speeds than previously possible.
This intellectual property has been developed by EOS in collaboration with the Space Environment Research Centre (“SERC”), and will now be commercialised and owned by EOS, with applications including space debris mitigation and high bandwidth satellite communications. Read more. |

Nominate for the Australian Space Awards 2021 |

Nominations for the Australian Space Awards are open until 16 April 2021.
The awards are open to all businesses operating in Australia supporting the space industry, including telecommunications, satellite, energy, mining and transport sectors as well as the defence, agriculture, disaster and water management industries. The Australian Space Agency is a supporter of the Australian Space Awards.

Australian startup Sprial Blue partners with Polish satellite manufacturer |
| |
Australian startup, Spiral Blue, has announced that it will partner with Polish satellite manufacturer SatRevolution to host Spiral Blue’s Space Edge Zero (SEZ) computers onboard 2 satellites, STORK-4 and STORK-5. Spiral Blue’s SEZ is a prototype computer designed to allow in-space processing of satellite images. This upcoming mission will see end to end testing and space qualification of the SEZ.

Gilmour and Fleet to launch satellites |
| |
| Gilmour Space, the Queensland based rocket manufacturer, and Fleet Space, the South Australian nanosatellite manufacturer for the Internet of Things, will launch six Fleet Space Centauri nanosatellites on Gilmour's Eris rockets in 2023. Read more. |

Moon to Mars Trailblazer consultation open |

The Australian Space Agency is conducting a consultation process to inform the Trailblazer program, within the Moon to Mars initiative.
The Trailblazer program is the flagship element of the Moon to Mars initiative. It supports NASA’s space exploration program, and plans to return to the Moon and then go on to Mars. It will contribute flagship Australian space capability within an international space exploration program. The program will also leverage Australia’s competitive strengths in space and showcase Australian capabilities to the world.
