Dear <<First Name>>,
As we work for trails and outdoor recreation across Georgia, it is vital that we advocate for those opportunities to transform our state into a more trail-friendly, outdoor recreation-friendly state. The Chattahoochee RiverLands will do just that, and it needs your help.
For the past 2½ years, The Trust for Public Land, Cobb County, Atlanta and the Atlanta Regional Commission worked to develop the Chattahoochee RiverLands – an ambitious vision to create a 100-mile linear park along the Chattahoochee as it flows through metro Atlanta. The Chattahoochee RiverLands would connect people living in 19 cities and 7 counties to each other and to the natural beauty of the river.
Despite being fully immersed in and guiding the Chattahoochee RiverLands plan, the National Park Service (NPS) released a draft trails master plan for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area that omits large, important sections of the greenway trail. Please urge the NPS - BEFORE APRIL 15 - to include the Chattahoochee RiverLands in the CRNRA Trails Master Plan. Here’s how:
ON THE WEB
- Go to parkplanning.nps.gov/CRNRA_Trails;
- select “Open for Comment” (on the left menu bar);

SAMPLE COMMENTS
I strongly support the Chattahoochee RiverLands vision of creating a 100 mile greenway trail from Lake Lanier to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. I urge the National Park Service to include this vision in its trails master plan for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The Chattahoochee RiverLands Trail is essential to increasing access to the CRNRA and linking many of the isolated units to each other. The RiverLands Trail will expand recreational opportunities and make the park more inviting to visitors of all abilities.
Please visit www.chattahoocheeriverlands.com to learn more about the dynamic vision for creating metro Atlanta’s defining public. The deadline for submitting comments in April 15.
Sincerely,
George Dusenbury
