Morning. The city is preparing for the release of the Adam Toledo video. Chicago is deploying police to the Loop and using city vehicles as roadblocks in anticipation of the public's reaction to the video of an officer killing the 13 year old in Little Village. The video, which the family viewed Tuesday, is expected to be released to the public this week.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, or COPA, said it is still in the early phases of its investigation, which includes reviewing the gun detection system.
MacArthur Justice Center attorney Jonathan Manes said ShotSpotter, which is used in mostly Black and Hispanic neighborhoods, puts police on high alert to look for gunfire when 85% of the time there is no evidence of a crime or a crime reported. Over the last three years, ShotSpotter has cost the city $30 million. Will Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who says she wants to see reform in the wake of Toledo's death, renew the gun detection system's contract in August? [Block Club Chicago; CBS News; The Intercept]

Time to proudly sport your "Run to Da Jewels" shirt, and embrace that Chicago accent. Plus, you'll be supporting local T-shirt and underwear maker Harebrained.
