Developing Leaders Strengthens Nonprofits

Leaders of 19 nonprofits in our community committed to professional development by joining the second cohort of CORE Fundraising training. Through the program, nonprofit directors and fundraisers will develop and begin to execute their fundraising plans. The training supports strong nonprofits in our community by helping organizations build sustainability.

During the program, fundraising consultant Adam Clevenger of Loring, Sternberg, and Associates will provide practical and customized training. Participants will also participate in two courses from The Fund Raising School at The IUPUI Lilly School of Philanthropy.

CORE Fundraising kicked off March 31 with a short session where cohort participants were introduced to one another and provided an overview and expectations for the program. This week, the cohort completed the second half of Fundraising for Small Nonprofits, a 12-hour course taught by Cathy Brown, a member of The Fund Raising School faculty.

The Community Foundation launched CORE Fundraising in 2019 with a pilot cohort. The training program was designed to help nonprofit fundraising leaders improve their skills and enhance their organizations' development activities.

Participants of the current cohort participate at no cost due to a funding collaboration between The Community Foundation and Ball Brothers Foundation. While there is no financial cost, participants are expected to attend all training meetings and actively engage during coaching sessions. Participants will also provide feedback during the training program, at its conclusion, and up to a year afterward.
