OTD is Granted Candidacy

Congratulations to our OTD program on being awarded candidacy yesterday by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.  ACOTE  is an Associated Advisory Council of the Executive Board of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Watch a fun video here when the announcement arrived!

As a result of this action, OTD immediately began admitting students (with 16 signed letters of intent received so far!) into the inaugural cohort of future occupational therapists–arriving on campus in August.  Founding Program Director and Division Chief, Barb Hooper, says this achievement comes after a tremendous amount of dedication and work from the faculty and staff in OTD. “We are thrilled to gain candidacy accreditation for our occupational therapy doctoral program, which will allow us to work to build an inclusive world where all people flourish through access to and participation in meaningful, health-supporting occupations, the activities of everyday life. There is an enormous amount of work that goes into applying for candidacy and each person on our team contributed vital pieces to this year-long process.  I am so proud of them and we are all excited to welcome our students this fall.”
