Dear friends,
Another month has passed and there are some news to report. Among other things, the Luxembourg government has promised some changes. Restaurants and bars are allowed to welcome people on their terraces again. But since people from different households are still not allowed, we decided to keep our monthly After Work in online mode tonight. So if you feel like talking to other people, we would be happy to welcome you to our Online After Work tonight at 7pm.

One of the saddest pieces of news reached us this weekend. Dan Biren, a prominent member of the local queer community, has left us forever. Many among you know Dan from his time as a vice-president of Rosa Lëtzebuerg or when he was involved in the planning of the Gay Mat, now Luxembourg Pride. We express our deepest condolences to his bereaved family.

On this occasion, we would also like to refer you to our information page, which might help you in difficult situations. At www.rosa-letzebuerg.lu/corona you will find a collection of addresses in English, French and German and initial help on the subject of Covid-19, but also useful addresses in those cases where you are confronted with loneliness or other difficulties. If you are not sure and still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us: info@rosa-letzebuerg.lu.
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to offer professional help, but we are always willing to listen and may be able to put you in touch with the right contacts.

Enjoy reading and best regards,
the board of Rosa Lëtzebuerg

Open letter to Cardinal Hollerich

As some of you may have noticed, there has been a major debate about the benediction of same-sex couples for some time, especially in Germany. This situation has led the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to formulate an official position of the Catholic Church on these matters. As is well known, this position turned out to be negative for same-sex believers. In an interview with Luxembourg's Auxiliary Bishop Léo Wagener [€], the Wort newspaper reported that the Luxembourg Catholic Church would follow the Belgian interpretation, which in turn follows the Vatican position. He also said that the problem was not "the homosexual himself", the "problem is the connection" between them.

Given the role of the Catholic Church in Luxembourg as the largest religious community as well as an employer, the Church has a certain social responsibility. In this context, and not least at the request of some of our believing members, we have written an open letter to Cardinal Hollerich expressing our regret at the recent statements and asking him to work on this issue in the form of a working group.

On the same day, Cardinal Hollerich, represented by Auxiliary Bishop Wagener in a 100komma7 interview, said he would visit Rosa Lëtzebuerg to discuss this issue. Rosa Lëtzebuerg is looking forward to further developments.

A new year brings new challenges and we want to face up to them. As we did a year ago, we are launching a survey again this year. We would be grateful if you could take 10 minutes to answer our survey. The survey is anonymous.

We want to use the results to improve and expand our services and communication. At the same time, we want to know your attitude towards the local LGBTIQ+ community and how you are coping with the pandemic.

If anything has changed with you (address, membership status, etc.), we also invite you to update your membership information so that you can stay informed at all times. All information is evaluated exclusively by our treasurer.

You can find the survey in German, English and French.

26.04 | INTERN. LESBIAN VISIBILITY DAY

Every year, April 26th  is dedicated to lesbian visibility. Rosa Lëtzebuerg will publish some posts on social media at this  occasion, yet in digital form due to the current circumstances.

We are also proud to announce that the women's group Pink Ladies, born out of the Rosa Lëtzebuerg Pink Ladies Uucht, has launched a Facebook campaign for this particular day, a campaign we would like to support. They invite you to add their campaign frame to your profile picture on Facebook for the  International Lesbian Visiblity Day on 26 April. You can find this frame here.

Similarly, we would also like to address the requests of the Pink Ladies, which are shared Rosa Lëtzebuerg demands and by that way supported by us. You find the statement here in an english an in a french version.
