Dunes Workday Sunday 18 April

This is a reminder that our next Tennyson Dunes Group workday will be Sunday 18th April, 10am-12pm, at the southern car park of the Wara Wayingga Tennyson Dunes Conservation Reserve, located here.

We will start our weeding efforts around sensitive native vegetation and also undertake a little bit of citizen science with the Wild Pollinator Count (see below).

Remember to bring sun protection, drinking water, enclosed shoes and gardening gloves.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Wild Pollinator Count

This week is the Wild Pollinator Count, a citizen science project for the whole family.  You can get out in your garden, local park of even the Wara Wayingga Tennyson Dunes and make observations of which insects are pollinating which plants.  This information can then be used by scientists to help build a better picture of insect and plant ecology.

At the end of our workday this Sunday, we'll undertake a quick count at various places around the dunes, to later upload to their database.  We did it last Spring and we're keen to see if there's anything different this season, so be sure to come along and help out.

If you'd like to survey in different areas or at the dunes earlier than Sunday, feel free to get involved.  For more information, check out Wild Pollinator Count.

Tennyson Dunes Group General Meeting

Following on from our very successful AGM earlier this year, with special guest Katja Hoogendorn talking about native bees, we will hold another General Meeting on Saturday 8th May, 2-3:30pm, at the Bower Cottages Community Centre, 200 Bower Rd Semaphore Park, located here.

There'll be another amazing guest speaker and you'll also hear from our committee about several projects we've been involved in.

Be sure to save the date.

Conservation SA Special Members' Forum

As you may know, the Tennyson Dunes Group is a member of Conservation SA, the peak body for conservation groups in this state.

Conservation SA will be hosting a Special Members' Forum on Friday 29 April, 5:30-9pm.  It's open to all our members and there's loads of interesting topics to hear about and get involved in.

You can find more details and RSVP for the forum here.

We hope to see many of our members there.

Green Adelaide Regional Landscape Plan

The Green Adelaide Regional Landscape Plan is currently open for community consultation, until Tuesday 20 April.

Green Adelaide is a new government organisation that is charged with transforming Adelaide into a cooler, greener, wilder and more climate resilient city.  They've developed a draft five year strategic plan that outlines how they can bring their vision to life, in partnership with the community.  They even feature a photo of the Wara Wayingga Tennyson Dunes on the front page of their website.

You can view and comment on the plan here, and we urge you to do so.
