 At the Roundhouse

                                                     April 17th

 Spring Cleaning  (Some more)
Our volunteer groundskeeper is temporarily very limited as to what he can do, so we will need some help with taking on his chores. We need a volunteer to walk the fence and check for any damage or holes in the fence, especially in the storage yard. He used to patrol the yard daily and pick up stray pieces of lumber, metal or tools.  This can be done anytime during the week or Saturday.  Mowing season is here. We need help with lawn maintenance.  We have a riding mower, weed wackers and sprayers for weed control. We also need some volunteer help with office cleaning and emptying the trash bins. The lunch room and Directors office need periodic dusting.  The conference room floor needs periodic sweeping and mopping.  Again, all things that can be done during the week if you have the time and inclination. The shop area is always in need of a thorough sweeping.
Last week volunteers were also able in work in stall 4/5 to get a rack erected and cut wood for the decking.  We want to clean up metal stock from the stall and corner in the shop and place it on this rack.

   The Tool Room (Almost there)

The walls inside the tool room  now have a fresh coat of paint and last week volunteers finished painting the hallway. If possible we need some time to grind down the rough spots on the tool room floor and also help keeping the dust down. Volunteers also started painted the bare masonry wall on the shop side and we may need to finish that up on Saturday.

The metal work on the cab is virtually complete.  Now just a matter of space available to do sand blasting on the cab and tender frame, inspection and painting. We still need to swap tender trucks with the caboose.

The Drott
The Drott is at a point where we just need to purchase parts and then reassembly can restart.  Mechanical help is always a need.  Our Ford tractor is going to be needed very soon so repairs need to be completed.

America
Completing this car for the summer season has become a matter of some urgency. The major tasks left are installation of the kitchen and repaint of the exterior where necessary. If you have any skills in these areas your help is much needed and will be greatly appreciated. Donations to help complete the work are welcomed also.

Odds and Ends
Another paint job has come up.  The overhead door in stall 3 is framed with lumber that was never painted. It need several coats and we may install a gate there to control causal visitors.
The plasma table table needs some simple adjustments made to clear the length wise travel of the cutting arm.  It has also fallen out of  level, so we need several people to help relevel the entire table.

With the resumption of tours, we will need some tour guides. You can check Etix directly to see what times have been booked.  Until further notice, train rides have been suspended, so operating crew members are not needed. This is subject to change, so stay in touch.
Some of the tours are during the week.  If you are available to help with weekday tours, please let us know.

RPCA
The RPCA Committee is looking for volunteers to help out.  A lot of work has been done but there is still plenty of work to do. Contact the office or any Board member if you are interested in being part of this endeavor in any way.  Currently a video presentation is being prepared that will be shown at this year's virtual conference that will introduce our event for 2022.

Limited Time Offer
We are still accepting donations in accordance with the past few weekends mailing that offers specially designed tee shirts and sweat shirts as a thank you gift to the donor. The offer will probably end soon so reserve yours now.

The roundhouse is a safe and compliant place to work and interface with others. Masks are required. Common areas are continually being sanitized for our safety.  The governor is changing these guidelines on a weekly basis and we will reflect them as they are made.
