Other News & Updates

Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell is organizing a vaccination clinic to provide BOTH DOSES of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible residents of Council District 13. At this time, eligible CD13 residents include seniors aged 65 and older, food and agriculture workers, emergency services workers, and education and childcare workers. Eligibility requirements are subject to change.

For you and/or those in your community who are interested in being vaccinated, please fill out the Interest Form linked below. Completing the Interest Form does not guarantee a vaccine, but will be used to determine eligibility in this program. Once a resident is deemed eligible, they will be contacted with additional information.

The vaccination Interest Form (English/Spanish) can be found HERE.

If you have any questions about the CD13 COVID-19 vaccination program, or for information on other resources available to help those impacted by COVID-19, please call 213-207-3015 or visit http://CD13.com.

CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Now Available

The State of California has launched their state COVID-19 Rent Relief program designed to help low-income Californians through the payment of unpaid rent to landlords and is now available for eligible households. This is for non City of LA residents.

CA COVID-19 Rent Relief will help income-eligible households pay rent and utilities, both for past due and future payments. Eligible households must have experienced financial hardship because of COVID-19, have past due rent or utility bills, or have a household income under 80% of the area median income. Eligibility information can be verified at HousingIsKey.com or by calling 1-833‐430‐2122.

How does it work?

Landlords can apply directly to be reimbursed for 80% of their eligible renters’ unpaid rent from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, with agreement to waive the remaining 20%. Landlords will have to provide verification of residence ownership and rent owed.

Renters can apply directly to receive 25% of their unpaid rent from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, even if their landlord does not participate. They may also receive assistance for future rent equal to 25% of their monthly rent. Renters can also get 100% of past due utility payments from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, as well as up to 12 months of future utility bills. Renters must provide documentation of COVID-19 related financial hardship, such as recent paystubs, job termination, unemployment assistance, etc.
