Vaccine Updates

In alignment with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation, the County has removed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from all its vaccination POD sites until further notice. The County’s vaccination PODs will continue to dispense the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to individuals with appointments.

Starting yesterday, everyone age 16 and older in Orange County is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. People under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive the vaccine. For more information, please click here.

As many local pharmacies are now dispensing vaccines, a useful tool to find vaccine availability by zip code is VaccineFinder.  Enter your zip code to see where available vaccines are being given in and around Dana Point.

Every Californian can sign up at myturn.ca.gov or call (833) 422-4255 to see if it’s their turn to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

County Super Pods:  The OC Fair & Event Center Super POD will operate with extended hours of 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. (appointments between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.) on Thursdays to accommodate working individuals who cannot get vaccinated during standard business hours.

COVID-19 Updates

As pandemic conditions improve, we are encouraging everyone to shop and dine locally.  Dana Point restaurants are eager to see your faces and welcome you back safely indoors.

County:  Those vaccinated through the County's Othena system will be able to produce a record to show they have been vaccinated through a new pilot program the OC Health Care Agency is launching. The Digital Vaccine Record Program provides testing and vaccine verification and will offer a QR code that is easily saved to your computer or smartphone.

The County continues to remain in Orange Tier, as the County’s case rate has held steady at 3 cases per day, per 100,000 residents.  Once the case rate moves below 2 cases per day, per 100,000, the County will be eligible to move into Yellow Tier.

State: The state Department of Public Health tweaked its four-level, color-coded pandemic guidance so that effective April 15, certain venues in Red, Orange and Yellow tier counties could boost their indoor capacities if guests “are tested or show proof of full vaccination.”  The State is still expecting to move beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy in June. On June 15, all industries across the state can return to usual operations with common-sense risk reduction measures, such as masking and vaccinations.

Federal:  President Biden announced funding from the American Rescue Plan will help the CDC monitor, track, and defeat COVID-19 variants.  Read more here.
