Summer 2021 Newsletter
Dear Friends,

As we enter the summer and with lockdown restrictions easing across Europe and beyond, we are looking ahead to exciting times. Galleries and institutions have come back to life and we have been working on exhibitions in London and elsewhere, as well as on educational programmes and on developing our digital services.

Below you'll find our most recent updates, highlights, and news about some of our favourite artists - don't hesitate to contact us to explore more.

From Piero, Nico and all of us at Artvisor, we hope you have a great summer and we look forward to being in touch soon!
Thiago Rocha Pitta at Artvisor
Last week we've opened in London an exhibition of the renowned Brazilian artist Thiago Rocha Pitta (b.1980), considered one of Brazil's most significant contemporary artists. Featuring five large fresco paintings, this is the artist's first solo exhibition in the UK.

Rocha Pitta's diverse practice often simultaneously depicts and interacts with the natural environment, distilling a sense of longing and intrigue. Engaging, poetic and intricate, the artists' works have been included in the permanent collections of major museums including the MoMA, New York; the Thyssenkrupp, Vienna; and the Museu de Arte Moderna de Sao Paolo.

We are pleased to announce our exhibition of works by leading Italian artist Marco Tirelli (b. 1956) in the second half of June, to coincide with the opening of his major solo exhibition at Cardi Gallery, London. Resulting from an ongoing dialogue between the artist and Piero Tomassoni, our single-room exhibition will act as a counterpoint to the large four-floor retrospective organised by Cardi in their Mayfair space.

Francesco Patriarca at The Edit Dubai
Francesco Patriarca's first solo show in the Middle East, curated by Artvisor, opened in March during the first physical art fair of 2021, Art Dubai. The show inaugurated The Edit's new space in Alserkal Avenue, the district hosting all the leading international and local galleries in Dubai. The exhibition has just been extended until July - get in touch for further information.
Michael Pybus at Artvisor
We recently hosted the exhibition *meatballs not includedby British artist Michael Pybus (b. 1982). Reinterpretations of classic masterpieces of modern and contemporary art collided with elements from the iconic IKEA branding and architecture, and with other figures from post-capitalist and consumeristic culture. The artist took over our entire HQ, creating a saturated environment where "high art" was melded with mass-media icons.

Artvisor on the News
Last Sunday, Nico Epstein was interviewed on Al Jazeera regarding a trademark dispute between the artist Banksy and the company Full Colour Black. Watch the full interview.
Talks and Lectures
Most recently, Piero spoke with acclaimed Peruvian artist Jota Castro at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino, to discuss methodologies in artistic creation, as well as the current reality in contemporary artistic practice. Last month Piero also gave a lecture on the art market for AIPB, the Italian Association of Private Banks.

Meanwhile, Nico completed the third cycle of his course, The Art Market Online: An Essential Guide at Christie's Education last month, which he designed and taught, while also continuing to lecture as part of the Negotiating the Art Market: Collecting, Buying and Selling Art course at the same institution. He recently gave an online lecture on art marketing for Università Cattolica in Milan.

Finally, during Art Fair Philippines, the Manila-based MONO8 gallery hosted an online discussion with Piero and Nico. In conversation with MONO8 curator and Artvisor editor Gwen Bautista, they shed light on how to start and build an art collection and shared their thoughts on the thriving contemporary art scene in Southeast Asia. The event was streamed through MONO8's social channels and can be found on their website.
