Message Highlights:

  • CC plans to host in-person, outdoor Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2021 on Sunday, May 23, and the Class of 2020 on Sunday, May 30.
  • We will continue to offer in-person, hybrid, and remote courses during Summer Session 2021 (Summer Half Block and Blocks A, B, and C)
  • As announced last monthFall 2021 classes will be offered in person as long as local, state, and federal directives allow us to do so.
  • Summer 2021 housing applications are now being accepted; details on Fall 2021 housing will be coming soon.
  • CC is closely monitoring all study abroad programs and plans to offer and support 2021 study abroad program options, in accordance with U.S. State Department and CDC travel restrictions and guidance.
Throughout the Spring Semester, your diligence and support of CC's risk-mitigation practices are reducing the spread of COVID-19 throughout our CC community. CC's weekly positivity rates have stayed low and remain much lower than COVID-19 positivity in the broader community.

Now, with the vaccine rollout progressing, we are optimistic. The distinctive CC residential liberal arts experience is what we do best. If there are no major setbacks with COVID or its new variants, we intend to get back to it, taking purposeful steps and precautions to continue to reduce risk of COVID spread in our community.

Spring and Summer 2021
  • We are grateful to El Paso County Public Health Department for helping us develop a safety plan for in-person Commencement festivities; thank you in advance for doing your part — by getting tested for COVID, wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and handwashing, and limiting your exposure.
  • In-person, hybrid, and remote course offerings are available during Summer Session 2021 (Summer Half Block and Blocks A, B, and C)
  • All students should review their Summer 2021 registration by April 20.
  • CC offers on-campus housing for enrolled Summer Session students, MAT students, visiting undergraduates, Student Research (SCoRE) participants, and other college sponsored programming.
  • The Summer 2021 housing application is available now and due before May 1
Study Abroad
  • For Summer and Fall 2021 CC faculty-led programs and the Center for Global Education and Field Study will continue to regularly monitor and communicate with each of our partner programs and CC faculty on the plans to offer and support 2021 study abroad program options, in accordance with U.S. State Department and CDC travel restrictions and guidance.
  • Students, you may apply for 2021 Fall Semester study abroad, and work closely with the Office of Global Education and Field Study as current global health conditions change.
  • Students, you have until May 1 to finalize (confirm or cancel) their Fall 2021 plans. You must have submitted the CC internal application for Fall 2021 study abroad in Summit by March 15.
  • A general standard for program cancellation is based on risk levels assessed by agencies and government departments, but allows for individual programs to determine if they wish to be even more cautious than warnings require.
  • View additional information on the status of specific abroad offerings and other details.
Fall 2021
  • Fall 2021 classes will be offered in person as long as local, state, and federal directives allow us to do so.
  • Preregistration for Fall 2021 will open April 12, and run through April 30. Students: Connect with your Advising Hub advisor now; faculty advising begins after April 12.
  • Fall 2021-22 housing selection has been postponed. You will receive more details as soon as they are available; be assured the housing process will conclude by the end of Block 8.
  • We don’t know everything yet; we are planning and analyzing how to safely provide on-campus housing and campus life. We rely upon science and data points including: COVID-19 incidences going down; an effective vaccine rollout in which all can be vaccinated; gaining an understanding of the impacts the COVID-19 variants have on cases and spread.
  • We know that many of you are looking ahead and making plans for the fall. Specific policies regarding visitors on campus, and large on-campus events including Homecoming and Family and Friends Weekend, are still under consideration. We will keep all students, families, and the campus community informed as these decisions are made.

For employees working remotely, return-to-campus plans and expectations are in-progress. Thank you for your input in the Return to Campus survey. More details will be provided as soon as possible.

This is NOT the time to let our guard down: We will continue with our stringent testing and prevention protocols, staying diligent to reduce risk of COVID-19 spread.

We are relying on students, faculty, and staff to continue to do their part, enabling us to have in-person Commencement and classes.

CC strongly recommends vaccination for everyone who is eligible and able to receive a vaccine. While conditions are trending in a promising direction, mask wearing, a degree of social distancing, and testing will, to some extent, likely continue through into the Fall Semester. CC is hosting an on-campus vaccination clinic Saturday, April 17. Students, faculty, and staff will receive a separate message this week with specific details on making a vaccine appointment on campus.

Thank you for following public health guidance, getting tested, getting vaccinated when it’s your turn, and so much more. Don’t let up now, as there is hope to return to an in-person CC soon!
