Longenecker Update

April 2021

God’s Blessings

While reading my devotions the other day, I came across something that seemed like it so perfectly summed up what has been happening recently in my life. It comes from The One Year Devotional for Men by Stuart Briscoe:

“Waiting ‘before God’ suggests waiting in a particular place in a particular posture. It is waiting in an attitude of worship and dependence rather then hanging around hoping something will happen. Waiting before God involves actively focusing upon who He is and what He is doing in the world while waiting for His answers to arrive.

Those men who are used to being in control of their lives, [me] find waiting before God particularly difficult. While they are supposed to be waiting they expect answers to be forthcoming. In Psalms, David comes to a point of admitting that he could not fix his problem. He knew that his only hope was in the Lord’s intervention.

God works at His own pace and in his own way. No amount of impatience will alter the speed or the manner in which God will work out his purposes. So when the only direction you can turn is to the Lord, and the only way to look is up, remember to wait before Him as you wait for Him. He will act. And don’t be impatient, because His clock keeps perfect time.”

It is difficult for me, at times, to be patient. And this just reminds me, as I look back at the support raising process I’ve been through so far, to wait before the Lord. It’s been amazing to see how He is working in His timing, especially in the last few months. In three weeks we begin our move west, and God has blessed us so much. Our current pledged support has us at 65%!!! I remember 2 months ago thinking that being at 70% by the time we moved was a God-sized goal. And here we are with 3 weeks left and already at 65%. He has reminded me so much that nothing is too big for Him. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

The Next Three Weeks...

I am excited and sad at the same time to be moving in three weeks. I will definitely miss helping with Wilderness Journeymen at Calvary Bible Church and also being able to volunteer at Cornerstone Youth Center. I will also miss playing frisbee at Spooky Nook and will miss working at Boundtree Warehouse. I will also miss seeing you. (You can always come visit!) But I am excited to begin what God has called me to.

We would love to see you and say goodbye before we go. We are planning a drop-in on Saturday April 24th from 1-3pm at Cove Outlook Park in Mount Joy. As the date gets closer we will see what the weather looks like and keep you updated on possible changes.

Prayer Requests

Please pray that:

We would continue to wait before Him as He provides.

We would find a affordable apartment to rent in a suitable location.

We would continue to trust Him for grace, patience, and sanity (haha) as we get into the craziness of packing, moving, and squeezing in as many in-person support meetings as we can before we go.

Thank you for your prayers!  Feel free to send me your own prayer requests as well.

Sincerely
David Longenecker
