New Round of Legislative Meetings Scheduled for April 27-30
Thanks to the success and the overwhelming interest in our first Virtual Hill Climb of 2021, we’re scheduling a second round of meetings with legislators April 27-30. We have more momentum than ever before and are in a unique position to get the KOMBUCHA Act passed by fall. Will someone from your teamsign up to represent your brand?
Meetings are 15-20 minutes and have the support of KBI staff and experienced lobbyists—all you need to do is lend your experience as a brewer. Hearing from constituents is how legislators decide what to support, so your voice is critical to passing the KOMBUCHA Act.
As a reminder, the KOMBUCHA Act is a bipartisan, uncontroversial bill that will increase the ABV for nonalcoholic kombucha from .5% to 1.25% in the IRS code. This means that if a kombucha is tested on the shelf at more than .5% but less than 1.25%, it will not be subject to TTB taxes and regulation. This will relieve one of the biggest concerns of our industry. You can read the full text here.
