Hi <<First Name>>,

We're founding a new branch of the Global Justice Now Youth Network in Lancaster! Could you help us by sharing our first event, and of course, if you’re under 30 yourself, why not come along?

The Global Justice Now Youth Network are partnering with Why Is My Curriculum White? – Lancaster Uni to put on a free online workshop about decolonising the climate movement.

Decolonising the Climate Movement

  • When: Friday 16 April, 3-5pm,
  • Where: Online/Lancaster
Register now

Parts of this workshop are interactive, which means come prepped for some super interesting discussions. This will be as much about meeting likeminded people in and around Lancaster as it will be about learning new information!

‘Climate justice’ and 'decolonisation' have become buzzwords but what do they really mean?

This workshop looks at why the climate movement must take into account our economic system and how it created and perpetuates climate change.

We'll also look at how climate breakdown's origins lie in the colonial era, and explore current flashpoints of colonial trauma in Lancaster such as the 'Sugarhouse' nightclub named after the slavery-dependent colonial sugar trade.

And we’ll also look at how people are fighting back, by demanding decolonisation and climate justice!

We will be using this event to kickstart an autonomous branch of our youth network in Lancaster! If you are interested in taking part in your local youth network group wherever it is, even in a small capacity, please reply and ask to be put in touch with me.

Although it is being held by young people in Lancaster, given its online you can join from anywhere in the country. We’re particularly interested in reaching young people under 30 from Lancaster and surrounding areas like Morecambe, Kendal, and Blackpool!

Best wishes,

Cameron Joshi

Powerful multinational corporations are continuing to fuel and profit from the climate crisis.

By coming together to challenge them, we can make a difference.

Regular gifts give us the long-term stability to plan effective campaigns, as well as the flexibility to react to key events.
