Because that’s where your Friends will be.
Well, what week hey?
Between all the soul searching and seriousness contained in Yesterday's NetPost, Club life carries on.
We've listed 9 Adult and 7 Junior pennant teams for the coming winter season - a number I haven't seen since I joined East Freo 21 years ago. It's notable that of the 89 players listed there are 49 new members who joined just this season. I hope these new players enjoy the special camaraderie we try to foster within and between our teams here at EFLTC.
It’s also great to see many of these Pennant players joining in Social tennis across the week, and Social players showing an interest in the Pennant and other competitive exploits of our better players, and our juniors. This is what makes a Club more than just a building and some tennis courts.
It's a family that cares for one another. It's somewhere you might choose to hang out even if you're not playing yourself .... because you know that's where your friends will be.

Club Champ News...
Last week saw a pair of heavy artillery batteries go at each other in the Ladies Doubles Final.
Impressive hitting from both ends of the court almost always ended in a smile from all four players, and from the appreciative crowd (who mostly just wished they could do that).
|
|
Narelle Hemsley and Talia Edgar won the chocolates 6-2 6-4. Well played ladies.
And Narelle followed that up with a hard-fought win in the mixed alongside the ever-smiling Daniel Hayden, 6-2 6-4 over a gallant Peter and Fiona Davis, who carved a swathe of destruction through their side of the draw to make the final.
Some intriguing Club Champs and Consolation match-ups are scheduled this weekend as we push towards the finals.

Answers to round Nine
The winner of Round 9 was English Grant who knew that Bill Bell was the retired published author who is on the current Tennis Board. Stephen Duckett also goes in the hat for sending in the correct answer.

|
Round Ten
For the tenth and last Round, I was going to ask you to match a list of the Vice Presidents to a list of the Presidents for the last 20 years. This, just as an awareness exercise. However, I have another easier question.
Who was the person who inspired this whole Quiz idea. She did this by asking the question, “What should happen to the many cardboard boxes and plastic crates full of BOM (Board of Management) and event records, being stored with the mice and the mould, under the Clubhouse?” So after dealing with these boxes, I thought to share a tiny snippet. If the answer to this question hasn’t come to you, the hint is, she was a long-term member of the Board.

PS. The main prize will be drawn next Saturday.
