Organised by our Social Recovery Team the event is an opportunity to reconnect with family, friends and community after the 2019/20 bushfires.
Mahalia Barnes, Justice Crew and X Factor grand finalists Jess & Matt will perform, plus there’s free family entertainment including jumping castles, face painting and balloon twisting.
We’ll also have a range of local food vans on site to keep even the fussiest of eaters happy!
This is an alcohol-free event proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Council.

 Community reps called for Local Planning Panel
We’re calling on residents to nominate to join an Interim Independent Advisory Assessment Panel.
The panel will assist in determining development applications previously referred to Council for decision and provide advice on other planning matters, including planning proposals.
To nominate applicants must:
- reside in the Wingecarribee Shire,
- have a basic understanding of the planning system, and
- an appreciation of issues unique to the Southern Highlands community.
An allowance will be provided to the successful community representatives.
Nominations close at 9am on Monday 19 April.

 Refurbished netball courts ready for action!
The new-look Eridge Park Netball Courts are ready to host their first games following a fast-tracked restoration project overseen by the Southern Highlands Netball Association (SHNA) with Government support.
Following approval, repairs started late last year with funding secured through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, Council and the SHNA.
A total of four netball courts were re-constructed and a further two courts re-surfaced. Height adjustable rings were also installed and dual ‘Fast5’ line-marking laid.
Winter competition games are set to start in the coming weeks with an official opening scheduled mid-year.

 Backyard burning news
April marks the official end of the Bushfire Danger Period and means that backyard burning is once again permissible for some residents providing certain conditions are met.
As a general rule, only residents on properties that are greater than 4,000 square metres and not zoned medium density (R3) are eligible to burn.
Even then a whole range of conditions must be met before you undertake a backyard burn.
Relevant permits must be sought from either the NSW Rural Fire Service or Fire and Rescue NSW depending on the location of the property, burns must meet the NSW Rural Fire Service’s Standards for Pile Burning, smoke must be minimised and appropriate notice given to neighbours.
Heavy penalties can be issued if any of these conditions are breached.

Before undertaking a backyard burn consider alternate methods to dispose of your dry vegetation such as using your green-lidded kerbside bin, composting, mulching or taking your green waste to our Moss Vale Resource Recovery Centre.

Wet weather update
Late last month our Shire was inundated with above average rainfalls and we received hundreds of calls to repair pot-holes and remove fallen trees.
At the time of publication, the majority of these reports have now been tended to but our maintenance crews are still out scouring our 1,200 kilometre network of roads looking for problems.
To report a Council fault you can contact us on phone 4868 0888 (24 hours), email at mail@wsc.nsw.gov.au or online at www.wsc.nsw.gov.au. If you have a smartphone you can also report an issue by downloading the Snap, Send, Solve app which allows users to take a photo of the issue and send it to Council within a matter of minutes. This free app is available from the App Store or Google Play.
Remember too that our waterways are still swollen from the rainfall and any more rain in the weeks ahead could lead to further flooding.
