The Great Big Green Week 2021

In September we are joining with other members of The Climate Coalition to organise the Great Big Green Week - a huge call for action on climate change.

The Great Big Green Week will take place from 18 to 26 September, and WI members will have the opportunity to host thousands of events and activities across the UK in accordance with any social distancing guidelines that may still be in place.

Whether it’s a WI community stall, a park clean up or a group of you getting planting in your local area - these activities will celebrate what you are doing to make your local area a cleaner, greener place to live. This will be an opportunity to raise the profile of climate change and how it is impacting the people and places we love right here in the UK and across the world. Find out more here.

WI Spotlight: Doveridge WI's bus shelter makeover!
Doveridge WI in Derbyshire has brightened up a local unused bus shelter with a beautiful display using items made from recycled materials. The members involved knitted, crocheted, cut, stuck, glued and painted items to make this fabulous installation, to lift the spirits of those in the community who pass by. The display is also a celebration of Doveridge WI's 100th anniversary in 2021.
Virtual WIs
During the first lockdown in 2020, we started exploring the possibility of opening fully virtual WIs. We’re pleased to announced that the eight federations who piloted a virtual WI are now officially able to launch as of April. We’re looking forward to how these progress and will be rolling them out to other federations.
