In uncertain times, many things fall back to the ground: What endures? What is truly essential? Earth/Erde lends its name to the entire planet, although only a very small part of the land mass is actually fertile. We move in a breath of atmosphere on an even thinner fertile layer of soil that has grown over thousands of years. Although the fundamental function of this top layer is evident, the grounds beneath our feet are being exploited. Valuable rare earths are excavated to be replaced by hazardous waste. The Earth's crust is worked relentlessly and violently. Paradoxically, or perhaps precisely because of this, the soil is one of the least explored habitats on our planet. The outdoor exhibition “GRUND” brings together three artists engaging with the topic in its broadest sense. Located on the farm Hof Blum the installations create a strong dialogue with the practises of agriculture, natural processes and dynamics of interconnectedness and co-habitation.

VIDEO WINDOW, a nomadic video platform curated by Bruno Z'Graggen, presents Forest Tales and Emerald Fictions 2019on the occasion of the Exhibition Im Wald. The video will be screened in a 1-channel version with German subtitles, followed by a conversation between curator Bruno Z'Graggen and the artist.
