Between 2005-2015, the suicide rate increased by approx. 25% in the US. Women attempt it more often, but men succeed more often. Risk factors include a history of suicide attempts, substance misuse, insomnia, hopelessness.  Ask your patients about this, they will often share what they are thinking.
