A Message from Rev. Bob

Alleluia, Christ Is Risen!
The Lord is Risen, Indeed. Alleluia!

Now that the blessed but busy days of Holy Week and Easter Sunday are behind us, I'd like to thank everyone who planned, produced, led and participated in our wide variety of worship services.  Once again, our faithfulness, creativity, solidarity and mutual support clearly revealed God's grace, glory and love and our love one for the other.

One note for those who may have promptly watched our Easter Sunday worship video:  I revised the beginning of that video to include a few photos from our Easter worship and a photo of our own G&SP wooden cross. You might want to take thirty seconds to see those photos. Others might want to follow this link, too.
https://vimeo.com/533143538. Or, equally, you could simply visit our parish Facebook page.

I look forward to continuing our walk together on Jesus' Way of Love throughout the Easter season and beyond.

Sunday Services for Spring

Easter is the Queen of Feasts and your clergy feel that, after a year without, Communion should be an integral part of the Service.  However, our whole area is still in the "red zone" when it comes to new Covid infections.  We, along with the Bishops, do not feel it is safe to continue having Communion every Sunday until we are out of the red zone.  Worship, therefore, every Sunday after Easter will still be outside at St. John's  (weather permitting) but will not include the Eucharist.  In case of "serious" weather conditions, we will not have the outdoor Service but will have a virtual Service on Zoom and Facebook Live, as we have been.

Now- through April 17th
ECCT Spring Training
9th ANNUAL

SPRING TRAINING & GATHERING
 VIRTUAL EVENT

Gather with Episcopalians from across Connecticut for learning, prayer and fellowship. All are welcome – from people in the pews and vestry members to parish leaders and staff.

This year Spring Training will take place during the two weeks immediately following Easter when a variety of engaging workshops will be offered on Zoom.  Each workshop is 90 minutes long and most are offered on two different days and times.  The closing plenary session will take place on Saturday, April 17, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Even if you aren’t able to attend any of the workshops, join us for the plenary program, Parish Life After COVID: Psychological and theological reflections as we gather in new ways.

Workshop Categories, Essential Parish Operations, Leadership, Spiritual Practices, Worship
For a complete list and description of the workshops and the closing plenary program as well as the registration links visit
www.episcopalct.org, click on the Events tab, and then select Spring Training in the drop down box. There you’ll find the menu of offerings.

Registration
There is a separate registration link for each workshop session and the closing plenary session. There is no limit to the number of workshops that you may register for. Registration for each workshop will close 24 hours prior to the session or when it reaches capacity, whichever comes first.

There is no charge for this year’s event.

We are Almost There!!
Consider a Donation

 to G&SP Black History Scholarships

$200 will get us to our goal.  Please consider a donation, of any amount!

To donate, you may mail a check to Grace and St. Peter's with 'scholarship' in the memo portion of the check, or use the donate button on our graceandstpeters.org website.  For those using the website, a follow up email to the parish office notifying of the donation would be appreciated, as the program does not allow you to designate the intent of the donation.

Faith Study Group

Daniel Erlander- author Manna and Mercy

The Faith Study Group continues to meet twice a month via Zoom, led by parishioner Gretchen Pritchard.

Our leisurely journey through the book “
Manna and Mercy" by Daniel Erlander, has stayed in synch with the church year since Advent:  we have just read the chapter on the Cross and are moving into the Easter and Pentecost stories and the life of the early Church.

Erlander’s presentation of the story of the Church as told in the Acts of the Apostles and the letters of Paul reflects the same topical and innovative approach we have already found so provocative in his retellings of the story of Israel and the Gospels.

So, how does “the Church”—the community of believers in the New Life of the Risen Lord—live out the Good News in the world?  Join the discussion!

In April the Faith Study Group will meet on TUESDAY April 13 and THURSDAY April 29.  The Zoom meeting opens for casual conversation around 6:30, and discussion begins at 7:00 pm.  The group is open to all.  There is no “homework” or advance reading for the meetings, and no question is too basic or too complicated.  Regular or occasional participation are both welcome.

If you would like to find out more, or if you’re interested in joining in the Faith Study Group and would like a copy of the book, please contact Gretchen Pritchard at 203-624-2520 or
sundaypaper@snet.net. Please also let Gretchen know if you’d like to be on the Faith Study Group e-mailing list to receive reminders of the meetings and the Zoom log-in invitation.

My Way of Love

My Way of Love is a personal guide for the spiritual journey, providing coaching to help individuals grow along the seven practices for Jesus-centered life: turn, learn, pray, worship, bless, go, and rest. It begins with a brief online survey which assesses where you are in your spiritual life. We call it the Spiritual Life Inventory.

Once your responses have been processed, we’ll email a helpful explanation of our findings, along with some tips for improving your spiritual journey. You’ll also be given a chance to sign up for an eight-week series of emails that will offer some suggestions, coaching for how you can grow spiritually, and ways you can go deeper in love of God and neighbor.
