GABF is cancelled, but the beer shall still flow...

👋 Hello and good morning Denverites!

Spring is truly here — or as I like to refer to it, Patio Drinking Season. Today we have a high of 71 and mostly sunny skies ☀️

Now, some beer news 🍺 First, a sad announcement: The Great American Beer Festival is canceled again this year thanks to (you guessed it) COVID-19 concerns 😢 Though the festival doesn't take place until October, the Brewers Association says it's impossible for them to safely judge what vaccination rates and public health mandates might look like six months from now.

However, not all is lost — just because we can't get drunk and wear pretzel necklaces, doesn't mean brewers can't still battle it out. The annual GABF awards ceremony will be live-streamed on September 10 at the Craft Brewers Conference. But wait, there's more good news! Denver is shifting the dates for its annual Beer Week to align with the conference (Sept. 10-18) promising plenty of tastings and events to make up for the GABF loss. Also, the Brewers Association is launching a passport program (Sept. 17-Oct. 17) with hundreds of deals for breweries across the country. GABF plans to return in full force for its 40th anniversary in 2022 🍻

Bonus beer news: Coors just launched Coors Pure, its first organic brew, boasting only 92 calories, zero sugar, and a 3.8% alcohol by volume.

Cannabis has brought big bucks to Denver's economy, but not all parties are reaping the rewards. Recently city and state officials have been trying to address social equity in the industry. But is it enough? Today, we spoke with activist Hashim Coates who believes there are still a lot of barriers to break down for people of color. Listen now.

How do I love to spend warm Denver weekends? Two words: farmers markets. The metro area hosts so many incredible markets that are filled with beautiful local produce and products. Many are opening early this year to make up for lost revenue caused by COVID. Southwest Plaza's farmers market opened last weekend, Highlands Ranch's opens this Sunday, and many more will soon follow. See who's reopening and when here 👉 [5280

Back and better than ever — The Pikes Peak Cog Railway has returned from a three-year hiatus, and railway officials promise your patience was worth the wait. The well-rested railway now features updated equipment, including brand new railcars and interactive displays. The iconic Manitou Springs attraction will celebrate its 130th anniversary in June with a special celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Visitor Center. Tickets for the railway went on sale Monday and can be purchased here. [303 Magazine]
