We will once again be missing our in-person Gardeners Gathering this year, but are hopeful that we will be able to safely come together in person next year! In the meantime, we have compiled some gardening tips and resources for the first-time and experienced gardener - check them out on our website!

Updates from Walnut Street

Spring and upcoming volunteer opportunities

Both the outdoor beds and indoor trays are showing signs of life as the weather gets warmer. Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers in the fall, we have 5 beds of garlic sprouting this spring!

GTC will be hosting weekly Volunteer Impact Days on Tuesdays from 10am-2pm beginning on May 4th. Starting in April, we are also hosting volunteer groups of 5+ by request. For more information and to sign-up, visit our website.

We will also need volunteers to help out at our Plant Sale on multiple days and in multiple roles - if interested, please fill out this form to sign up for a shift.

GTC’s youth leaders return to site

GTC’s youth leaders are back! After a winter program hiatus, youth participants and their guardians attended spring orientations to start the new season. Catch our youth on site three days a week during the school year as they gear up for the big spring planting season and take part in our newly redesigned youth program curriculum!

Valley Grows 2021

GTC will once again be participating in Valley Grows, a fundraising day that encourages support for food access groups and similar nonprofits across Western Massachusetts. The big day this year is May 19, so stay tuned!

Community highlight: Lotus & Compass Inc’s Earth Day fundraiser for GTC

Lotus and Compass, a local small business in Chicopee, is running an Earth Day fundraiser for GTC this week only! Check out their special collection of shirts, tote bags, and gardening aprons - 25% of sales from this collection will be donated to support GTC. Happy shopping!
