Crackdown on illegal dumping

This financial year council officers have tracked down the owners of 60 per cent of all rubbish that has been illegally dumped in the Mackay region.

Offenders are being warned that large fines apply for those caught breaking the law.

Residents are being encouraged to report any sightings and photos of illegal dumping – report the date, time, location and vehicle details to 1300 MACKAY (622 529).

Our annual illegal dumping campaign has been launched and we are encouraging residents to help keep our region beautiful by reporting illegal dumping to council.

To celebrate Neighbour Day last month, we held a competition looking for the most legendary neighbours.

We found two deserving winners – one of which was the residents of Seafarer Court in Blacks Beach.
