O God, who made this most holy night to shine with the glory of the Lord’s resurrection: Stir up in your Church that Spirit of adoption which is given to us in Baptism, that we, being renewed both in body and mind, may worship you in sincerity and truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Below is a thankful note and a recap of Tuesday's evening Pop-Up Food at St Patrick's Church.
Thank you to our Pop-Food Ministry team for all your hard work in serving those who are in need!
Thank you to Dennis M, Lauri D, Carolyn W, Kathleen B, new driver Ron, and REFB rep Arturo. Food went to 51 households/165 individuals!
The variety of foods is amazing and abundant, and they differ each time. We don't know what's on the truck until it unloads! Tonight, we also had diapers and bottles of hand sanitizers.
What we receive is dependent on what is donated and/or bought. Besides large contributors like the federal government and large food businesses, it's amazing to see how much individuals contribute. The grocery bags from individuals' donations get sorted and distributed; cash contributions are quickly utilized.
What is distributed at St Pat's should last a family many days, and there are MANY other near-by distribution sites. No one in Sonoma County should be hungry - except - too many can't get to those sites for a variety of reasons. This problem is being worked on by various agencies.
No one person nor entity can solve the problem, but it is so gratifying to do something! That's what brings back our very committed corps of volunteers!
~Eleanor

Becoming Beloved Community
|
|
|

Easter is here and we love sharing God's love through this sacred holiday. A couple of our ministry volunteers from Becoming Beloved Community School Ministry, put together 80 Easter gift bags for the Dunbar and Kenwood Teachers and staff.
Thank you so much to Barbara Klingbeil and Mary Field for putting these gift bags together! They filled each bag with a tiny Easter decor wreath, chocolate kisses and a stress ball!
Thank you ladies for all this work and generosity! The gifts were delivered to both schools and received with joy!!

In Gratitude and Admiration
The Planned Giving Ministry
|
|
|
Charlie Buff and Ron Keith recently installed a beautiful St. Francis Fountain in the garden honoring a generous memorial gift from the Denny Martin Family.
Thank you Charlie & Ron for this special effort to honor the Denny Martin family and their major Legacy Gift to St. Patrick's. Also thanks to Bob Wohlsen who researched various fountain options and found this one. The Planned Giving Ministry announced way back at the January 2020 annual meeting there would be a special way to honor the family.
Thanks to the Vestry (deciding what manner the recognition should occur) and to you and those who researched the fountains (if it was not you), we have at long last a wonderful tribute that all our church family can view and enjoy.
Thank you, gentlemen, for stepping up to the task, we are all grateful!
Blessings,
Stephanie, Laurie, Ann and Alec & St Patrick's Family

Diocesan-wide Sacred Ground Circle
|
|

New Sacred Ground Circle forming in May
Sacred Ground is a 10-part discussion about race, grounded in faith. Participants are invited to view selected videos and read books and articles about Indigenous, Black, Latino and Asian/Pacific American histories and how they intersect with European-American accounts.
The materials also examine the church’s evolving teachings on race relations. Participants come together in small groups, aka dialogue circles, to reflect on what they have learned and how it fits with their own family stories, identities, and experiences.
Hosted online by social justice advocate Bob Wohlsen and Spiritual Director/educator Sharron Simpson, both of Santa Rosa, the circle will meet weekly from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays starting May 13.

All Will Be Well
A Sacred Sweetness
Wednesday, April 7, 2021
Today, treat yourself to reading directly from Julian. I am using Mirabai Starr’s wonderful translation of Julian’s Showings, which is also aptly called Revelations of Divine Love. This is from her Long Text, chapter 52.
God rejoices that he is our Father. God rejoices that he is our Mother. God rejoices that he is our Beloved and we are his true lover. Christ rejoices that he is our Brother. Jesus rejoices that he is our Savior. These are five supreme joys and he wants us to rejoice in them, too, and praise him, thanking and loving and endlessly blessing him.
During our lives here on earth, we experience a wondrous mixture of well and woe. We hold inside us both the glory of the Risen Christ and the misery of the Fallen Adam. Christ protects us in our dying and, through his gracious touch, uplifts us and reassures us that all will be well. . . . We are so fragmented, afflicted in our feelings in so many ways, that we hardly know where to turn for comfort. The various pains and transgressions of this life fill our hearts with sorrow and cloud the eyes of our souls.
But we cultivate our intention and wait for God. We have faith in his mercy and grace, and trust that he is working within us. In his goodness, he opens the eyes of our understanding and gives us insight. Sometimes we glimpse more, sometimes we see less, depending on what God gives us the ability to receive. Now he elevates us; now he allows us to come tumbling down.
The mixture of sorrow and joy is so powerful that we cannot figure out how to handle it all, let alone assess how our fellow spiritual seekers are doing. The diversity of feelings can be overwhelming. And yet, in those moments when we sense the presence of God, we surrender to him, truly willing to be with him, with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength. This holy assent is all that matters. It eclipses all the wicked inclinations inside us—physical and spiritual—that might lead us to miss the mark.
Sometimes, however, that sacred sweetness lies deeply buried, and we fall again into blindness, which leads to all kinds of sorrow and tribulation. So we must take comfort in the essential article of our faith that teaches us not to give into our negative impulses, but to draw strength from Christ, who is our defender against all harm. We need to stand up against evil, even if to do so causes discomfort—even pain—and pray for the time when God will once again reveal himself and fill our hearts with the sweetness of his presence. And so we remain in this muddle all the days of our lives. But our Beloved wants us to trust that he is always with us.
With such deep and tender wisdom, is it any wonder that Julian is one of my favorite mystics—and human beings?

Story from Our Community:
I am now 100 years old, so my story is too long to tell but I would like to share these few lines I wrote in 1981: “Silence is the language of love / Surrender its activity / Emptiness its fulfillment.” Thank you for the meditations, which I read every morning. Blessings on Fr. Richard and you all. —Janet C.
