As the largest form of disability in Queensland, having greater understanding of Autism is important. Autism Awareness Australia (AAA) released Autism...What Next? Summary Report last year to inform development of a new digital toolkit;
 a central hub to help individuals and families navigate the first year following an autism diagnosis. Read the report to learn about diagnosis, experience and supports accessed by people.

Cairns is GO for Community Workforce Projects
 

Cairns and Far North Queensland has four exciting community initiatives taking place across the region over 2021/2022.
 

Fifteen Managers and Allied Health Professionals at Apunipuma Cape York Council will complete a TeleHealth Administration Skill Set to help make its NDIS services more accessible to people living in regional and remote communities across the Cape York Peninsula.

As one of the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations in Queensland a number of senior staff will also complete the Diploma of Leadership and Management to help  strengthen its workforce capacity.

Cairns Workshop open to Community 

TAFE Queensland is hosting the first face-to-face NDIS VET Practitioner and Leadership Program from April 21 - 22 and invites community organisations and VET teachers to attend.

The two-day workshop teaches contemporary information around the NDIS Capability Framework to RTO teachers, NDIS providers and community services. Reserve your spot today - spaces are limited.

Employing long-term job seekers? The Queensland Government’s Back to Work program is waiting for your application today!
 
Eligible employers in regional Queensland and South East Queensland can access payments of up to $20,000 when you hire jobseekers who have experienced a period of unemployment. Applications close 30 June 2021.

TRAINING

The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) and TAFE Queensland are offering Queensland students who are currently studying to take part in a FREE micro-credential.

Four micro-credentials have been developed for people working in Community Services, Health and Support Services:
•         Resilience and Self-Care when Supporting Others
•         Person-centered Leadership and Mentoring
•         Person-centered Digital Skills
•         Research and Enquiry to Support Others

Courses commence Monday 19 April with flexible delivery available.
