Another year around the sun, and what a year it was for the world! And yet, at this moment in time in Kenya it seems like deja vu. Kenya is currently battling a third wave of COVID-19 infections. To curb the spread of the virus, the government has once again put in place lockdown measures and banned gatherings. Almost a year to the day of our first lockdown and here we are in another. This time we have more information about what to expect and we have vaccines rolling out, so there is light at the end of a long and dark tunnel.
What we've realised throughout these uncertain and tumultuous times is that our communities are resilient, strong, creative, and moving forward despite the challenges of the past year. We have seen just how important our work is: supporting women and girls, exploring the health benefits of indigenous foods and herbs, connecting with our traditional forms of peace building and collective action, providing access to critical information and services, and supporting the freedom of expression through the arts to share stories, emotions, challenges and beauty. All of us at TICAH are grateful for the community of participants, donors, partners and friends around work we do on holistic health and culture.
We hope that you will find inspiration and connection in our 2020 Annual Report. And mostly, we hope you will enjoy learning about the creativity and resilience of TICAH and the communities we support in Kenya and across Africa.
