BBC Children in Need
Deadline: 11.30am 12/04/21.
The small grants programme awards grants of up to £10k per year for up to three years. It is for working with children and young people who are experiencing disadvantage through:
- illness, distress, abuse or neglect
- any kind of disability
- behavioural or psychological difficulties
- living in poverty or situations of deprivation
Due to the pandemic, they have widened the types of applications they accept, and are offering funding that can be used more flexibly. Learn more on the BBC Children in Need website.

Steel Charitable Trust
Deadline: 20/04/21.
The trust is making grants between £2.5k and £25k. These are for charities in the areas of:
- arts and heritage
- education
- environment
- health
- social or economic disadvantage

ICF Capital Funding Scheme opens
Application window: 6/04/21 to 23/04/21.
This fund can finance small scale capital projects which cost less than £100k. (Capital projects are for things you can physically touch like building work, equipment, and doors). It cannot be used for revenue funding, or for annual service running costs. Projects should benefit:
- older people with complex needs and long-term conditions
- people with learning disabilities
- children with complex needs
- carers including young carers
- people in general by offering early support and preventing escalation of needs, while promoting health and wellbeing

Micro-grants to restart community activities
Deadline: 30/06/21.
Every quarter, we're offering micro-grants of £250 to support volunteer-led organisations to cover the additional costs of opening up community activities. This may include items like PPE and other costs you may incur.

First Campus, Innovation Fund
This body will fully fund projects supporting the education sector up to £15k. First Campus are interested in hearing from organisations wanting to work with the most vulnerable learners, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds in South East Wales. Read more on the First Campus website.

The Captain Tom 100 Challenge
Raise funds for the charity of your choice (including your own charity) with the Captain Tom 100 Challenge. The challenge is part of continuing Captain Tom’s legacy by supporting good causes at a time when many charities have seen funds diminish. All you have to do is create a challenge based around the number 100. Then, run it through a page on either Just Giving, or Virgin Money Giving.

Arts and Culture Impact Fund
This fund is making social impact investment fund loans between £150k and £1m. The money is for arts, cultural, and heritage organisations to build resilience and deliver social outcomes. Learn more and apply on the Arts and Culture Finance website.

Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund
This is a fund for cultural organisations with collections of artefacts. Grants of up to £250k are available for projects using collections to support an organisation’s established strategy for longer-term benefit. The projects must be running for up to five years. National Lottery Grants for Heritage
This pot of money funds projects that connect people to the UK’s national, regional and local heritage. Grants start at £3k. Higher bands are for grants of £10k to £250k, and also over £250k. Learn more on the Heritage Fund’s website.

Friends Provident
This foundation makes grants to projects that contribute to a more resilient, sustainable and fairer economic system. It is for charities, social enterprises, organisations and community groups. Learn more on the Friends Provident website.

Consultation on the Community Renewal Fund

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council are preparing to invite bids for the UK Community Renewal Fund by presenting at three community events hosted by Interlink RCT.
Administered nationally by the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government, and at a local level by Local Authorities, a range of project applicants, including but not limited to; education providers; third, and voluntary and community sector organisations, will be able to submit bids to the council.

Understand the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Date: 10am 13/04/21.
The Disclosure and Barring Service is hosting this workshop. It will look at:
- the role of the DBS
- the benefits of the DBS and your organisation working together
- the different levels of DBS checks and when individuals are eligible for them
- what regulated activity is in both the children and adult’s workforce
- how DBS checks can form part of safer recruitment practices

Meet the Funder, The Waterloo Foundation
Date: 2pm to 3pm 13/04/21.
This Cardiff-based funder wants to help both the local community in Wales and the global community. They are most interested in projects that help globally, and particularly in the areas of:
- disparity of opportunity and wealth
- unsustainable use of the world’s natural resources

Disability Confident event
Date: 10am to 11am 20/04/21.
Experts in work and disability will provide information on the support available to employers in the pandemic from recruitment to mental health. They will note the benefits of the Disability Confident Scheme, and there will be a question and answer session with the Minister of State for Disabled People. Groups or community organisations can win £250 by creating a profile
When a community or voluntary organisation signs up, it will be entered into a prize draw to win £250. One winner will be chosen in April, May and June, so there’s three chances to win.
Individuals can win £50 in vouchers usable in selected local businesses by creating a profile
The vouchers can be spent in a range of RCT businesses. Three winners will be chosen in each month between April and June, with each winner taking £50 in vouchers.

Bereavement Framework Consultation
Consultation window: 22/03/21 to 17/05/21.
Welsh Government is seeking views on how to respond to people who are faced with or who have experienced bereavement. This is with reference to their draft National Framework for the Delivery of Bereavement Care in Wales. The framework includes:
- national bereavement standards
- examples of existing models of bereavement support
- learning from the pandemic

Social Partnership and Public Procurement Consultation

The WCVA intends to respond to the above consultation. They are seeking as much input as possible from the community and voluntary sector to ensure we're well represented. To support this, they have created a Social Partnership Consultation Briefing document, which outlines the consultation, and they would like you to respond to it.
