We are excited to announce that Richard Kofi has won the Thami Mnyele Foundation Residency Award and will be staying in the residency in the coming months.

Richard Kofi has also been appointed by the City Archives as the new city illustrator of Amsterdam for 2021. His interview on Het Parool illustrates more on his practice and his inspirations for this project to draw draw 'alternative forms of being together'.

Bernard Akoi-Jackson's performance at Ten Katemarkt Amsterdam during his last residency in 2014
We are looking forward to the arrival of artist Bernard Akoi-Jackson in May 2021 who has been invited by the Foundation in collaboration with the Amsterdam Museum as part of the Foundation 30 years anniversary celebration.

During his residency, Bernard Akoi-Jackson will work on the project The Golden Carriage with Amsterdam Museum. The museum will open the exhibition De Gouden Koets on 18 June 2021 . After five years of restoration, this iconic carriage is on display again to the public for the first time. The exhibition shows special stories from a variety of perspectives, from the history of its origins to the use of the Golden Coach.

Portrait of Samson Kambalu

We congratulate fellow Samson Kambalu for being shortlisted for the Fourth Plinth Commission!

The artists shortlisted for the next two Fourth Plinth Commissions are Samson Kambalu, Goshka Macuga, Nicole Eisenman, Ibrahim Mahama, Teresa Margolles and Paloma Varga Weisz.

The maquettes of the proposed works will be exhibited at The National Gallery from late May to July 2021. The two winning commissions will be announced this summer and unveiled in Trafalgar Square in 2022 and 2024 respectively.​

The nominees of Theodora Niemeijer Prize 2021

We congratulate fellow Razia Barsatie for being nominated for the fifth edition of the Theodora Niemeijer Prize 2021 organised by the Niemeijer Fund and the Van Abbemuseum.

There are three nominees in total : the duo Razia Barsatie & Marjet Zwaans, Silvia Martes and Buhlebezwe Siwani. Congratulations to all nominated artists!

Fellow Ina van Zyl is presenting her new paintings in a solo exhibition Among Others at Galerie Onrust Amsterdam. The exhibition is from 17 April to 22 May 2021. Due to current covid measures, the gallery works by appointment.
