On-line Meeting of Themed 3D AV Shows
this Saturday 10th April 2021 : 2:30pm

3D Photo of Fountain

Following on from the "Early Themed Meeting" shown last month, we will next be sharing some of the shows originally shown in 2016 and 2017 in the "Water" and "Countryside" themed meetings, under the title "Past Themed Meetings".

These will be shared online using a Zoom meeting to be held this Saturday 10th April at 2:20pm UK BST time for a 2:30pm (GMT+1) programme start. Anyone interested can attend, please reply to this email if you require the Zoom meeting login details, they will be the same as our regular weekly meetings for those that are familiar.

We will be sharing the AV shows in Side-by-Side Parallel format, so you will need a suitable viewer, prismatic glasses, or to reduce your sharing window size for free-viewing.  It will be necessary for everyone to be muted during the shows.

The running time of the programme is a little over 90 minutes, which will be split into 2 sessions of around 45 minutes, with an interval of 10 minutes.

Expect to see: hot springs, denizens of the deep, water in musical settings, frozen water; spectacular scenery, a country fairy story, urban countryside, and a peak river story.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday (April 10th).

Best Wishes!
Mike Hillyard

PS You do NOT need a webcam or microphone to participate, you can just watch.
Please also reply to this email if you require details of our weekly online meetings where we chat and share 3D images and discuss 3D equipment and techniques - Anyone interested is invited to join us.

Annual Convention 2021
Goes Virtual : 7th – 9th May 2021

We are organising an online Convention over the weekend of 7th to 9th May.

We will première this year’s Annual Competition Exhibition show and also have our annual AV5 selection of members shows up to 5 minutes duration for you to judge.

We would like 3D photos or 3D videos of past conventions to help celebrate the weekend and reminisce about past 3D friends.
Please send your best 3D photos from any past convention using WeTransfer.com or similar file transfer system to convention@stereoscopicsociety.org.uk
Ideally send images as side by side Parallel pairs without any black borders, any resolution, especially high resolution if we are likely to magnify to see who people are. If you are able to scan a few old slides even better.
Any images sent in we would like to add to the digital archive of the society. Any images sent in will either be shared online during a meeting as part of the convention and or added to a web site gallery for participants to view in their own time.

Please include or email a description of each image or at least describe sets of images to say which year and where.

If you have or would like to make a short 3D AV show or 3D Video of a particular convention or your favourites please do so, but also let me know in advance that you are doing this so we can include it in the schedule.

We would like other offers of 3D shows, workshops and demonstrations that could be performed online. Short or long, in particular offers of Show and Tell of what you collect - cameras, cards, View-Masters etc - even a short 2 or 3 minute introduction would be very useful and we can help pre-record it online if you prefer.

Please help us make this new venture a success. Tell us what you would like to learn about in Workshops - Cameras, software, techniques etc? Time is short and contributions so far are few, please help if you can.
If there has been a particular interesting talk or show you have seen at past monthly meetings or conventions that you think members would like to see please let us know so we can hopefully organise to do it again to this larger online audience.

Please let us know what else you would like to see happen in such an event, any ideas or comments or if you have run online events and can offer advice or support please contact: convention@stereoscopicsociety.org.uk

Thank you for your help and participation,
Andrew Hurst – 07768 484971

AV5 - Short Members 3D Shows Required

One of the popular events at the Convention is the showing of short audio visual presentations referred to as AV5 - 3D shows up to 5 minutes long (3D Audio-Visual or 3D video).  The event normally would consist of around 10 shows from which the audience would vote for the one they enjoyed the most.

For those wishing to take part, please contact AV5 organiser Barry Aldous indicating your willingness to join in.
We already have several entries which would have been presented at the cancelled 2020 Convention.

YouTube Channel

We have a Stereoscopic Society YouTube channel - there is not much on it yet but hopefully it will grow with your help.
Hit the big Red Subscribe button so you can find it again another time, or easily find it from your 3D TV.

The society does not have many of its own videos to put online and we have to be careful of copyright - especially music with any members shows that you allow us to post.

But the channel also has the ability to bring together links to other good quality 3D videos already on YouTube - but which are the good ones out of the thousands that exist?

Please send me links to your favourite 3D videos on YouTube (or other video platforms).
They don't have to be 3D videos for 3D TV playback - there are some great 2D documentary and tutorial videos about 3D and 3D cameras - which ones can you recommend.

Do you or other clubs have 3D related videos online we can link to and help promote, do you have your own YouTube Channel we can link to?

Get in touch, this is all new and changing all the time, any help or advice appreciated.

Chiswick Auctions will have an online General Photographica sale on 15th April including a couple or stereo items.

Then on 5th May 2021 (moved from 7th) they have a special Photographica & Stereo auction.

Tim Goldsmith informs me this is one of the best selections of stereo items in an auction that he has seen in a long time, on the 5th May including a Victorian "sweetheart" table-top stereo viewer, rotary medium format viewer, sets of Underwood and other stereo cards, lenticular cameras, a RBT 35mm stereo camera, a Fuji W3 digital 3D camera and a rare Cyclopital3D W3 close-up attachment. Several of the items entered are from the collection of society member Peter Bryce and include his twin projector set-up and several twinned rigs by Martin Willsher.

Entries for future sales including "flat" cameras of all types please contact Tim Goldsmith by email info@cameravalues.com or on 07733 223881.
