  • In Mont Clare Road, on Thursday at 11.30pm, patrolling members of the Sybrand Park NHW apprehended a man who had attempted to break into a home.
The robberies were as follows:
  • In Upper Durban Road on Monday at 10am, two men armed with a gun entered a barber’s shop and made off with a Mercedes Benz vehicle, an iPhone and a wallet

Warning:
  • Mowbray police have again warned motorcycle owners to be ultra-careful of their vehicles as they are increasingly being targeted by thieves.

Hi, All:

I have just had confirmation this morning (April 1) from the Mowbray Station Commander that another Mowbray police officer has been murdered. Sgt Mavhayisi Ngobeni, a detective at the statoin, was badly beaten by a group of men outside his home in Eerste Rivier on Saturday evening and died in hospital yesterday from the injuries sustained.

His death comes after last week’s shooting of Constable Khangelani Magqabini outside his home in Delft, reportedly after a road rage incident.

The latest killing is being investigated by the Kleinvlei police station. No arrests have yet been made.

Once again, the Mowbray Community Police Forum, on behalf of the community, expresses its shock, outrage and concern at these attacks on officers of the law and trusts that the police will do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.

FROM A RESIDENT

Hi, I wish to report an incident which occurred in Kew Road.

A person entered the property by lifting the remote controlled gate off its rail on Thursday 1st April afternoon and entered the property around 15h00. He was shouted at by occupants and he fled.

Please ensure that any remote controlled gates on rollers and secured in such a way that it is impossible to lift it off it’s rail either at the front – with a metal pin which lodges in the upright post and a metal plate at the back which prevents it being lifted off the track. No one was hurt and nothing stolen, it could however have had a different outcome!

THANK YOU TO INGRID AND JAYDENE

On the 29th of March this young boy, Owam, from Joe Slovo got onto the wrong taxi and landed up in Little Mowbray. He found his way to the Raleigh road Park and there Jaydene, the Park Attendant, found him hiding in the bushes too afraid to come out. She stopped the LMRID patrol vehicle and spoke to Security Officer Twalinca who then contacted Ingrid. After about an hour of Jaydene talking to the boy he came out but then ran away when Ingrid arrived. He got such a fright that he left his backpack behind.

S/O Twalinca then searched and found him running on the M5. Ingrid Took him home to Joe Slovo and bought some KFC on the way for his lunch. His mother was so grateful and Ingrid got a call from his father later to say thank you.

Well done to Jaydene for her quick thinking and caring attitude.

Thank you to Ingrid for going the extra mile to get the child home safe and sound.

NB: Something we can all learn from this is to put contact details in children's school bags.
