It is hard to believe that we are getting close to the end of another school year - and this one was like no other! Along with the rest of the world, this last year brought about several challenges for Womenade of Elkhorn. So, we took a deep breath and, with your help, adjusted our plans in order to keep helping kids and families in need. Our Backpack Program and Celebration of Giving were done drive-thru style with a handful of masked and socially-distanced volunteers and I am happy to report that things actually went amazingly well.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our Guild members and those who donate when we have a need. This truly does help ease the burdens some of our families face day-to-day.
Your donations this last year have gone to help:
Fill Bethany’s food pantry for Elkhorn families in a time of great uncertainty
Provide school supplies and backpacks for students in need
Give holiday gifts to struggling families during Celebration of Giving
Buy books for our Busy Bee Reading Club to encourage summer reading
Handle various requests that we get throughout the year from schools for their families with urgent needs
We are so lucky to live in a community that steps up to help when asked - we truly could not do what we do without you! And, a big thank you to the members of our executive team for always doing their part and keeping us moving in the right direction.
As this year is winding down we are gearing up for our Busy Bee program and, believe it or not, we are already starting to prepare for our Backpack Program for 2021/2022! We are hoping that soon we will be able to bring back more volunteers to assist in our sorting and distribution days so stay tuned for those details!
We are also expanding our Board! We are looking for 3 members of our Guild that would like to become a little more involved in our projects.
