Hi Hornets!

In this week's newsletter, we look at the newly elected Associated Students, Inc. Board of Directors. Sacramento State students share their struggles with mental health and isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Plus, hear reactions from students about the drive-through graduation ceremony! Samantha Elizalde wins Sac State ASI presidency

Samantha Elizalde was elected Sac State’s ASI president and Joseph Sais was elected executive vice president after ASI held elections for its 2021-2022 Board of Directors Wednesday and Thursday. 

The election drew a 9% percent voter turnout.

Isolation and grief: Sac State students cope with declining mental health during pandemic

A year after the pandemic led to the closure of campus, Sacramento State Students reflect on their mental health journey and reveal their experiences with mental health. Mercy Sosa

As the pandemic and virtual learning continues, Sac State students are feeling drained from countless hours on screen.

Many Sac State students report their mental health has significantly decreased during the online semesters. The State Hornet spoke to a few of those students and got their input about how the pandemic has been affecting them.

Student graduates react to Sac State’s CARmencement

"We all go through a long journey when we do this, but it just seemed like the solution that they picked was a little bit silly, a little bit patronizing, and it just wasn’t very inclusive for a good portion of the student body," history major Carrie Sheahan said.

The State Hornet sat down with some graduating students to hear their opinions about the upcoming drive-through ceremony.
