Optimal Care Pathways (OCP) Refresh Project

‘Guides to best cancer care’, the consumer version of OCP’s are currently being circulated for targeted public consultation, including: breast cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, head and neck cancer, hodgkin lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, acute myeloid leukaemia, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, melanoma and basal and squamous cell carcinoma.

Optimal Care Pathways - Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait  Islander people through their cancer journey

As one of the 2021-2022 priorities, VICS will support Victorian health services with the implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Optimal Care Pathways.

BCNA My Journey symptom tracker and app

BCNA is releasing a downloadable app version of My Journey, a symptom tracker designed with the help of consumers, to support users in recording the physical and emotional symptoms of a breast cancer diagnosis. It will empower users to actively participate in their own symptom management, while helping them to feel confident in accurately sharing the ups and downs of their experiences with you and their team of health professionals. The My Journey app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Victorian Radiotherapy Minimum Dataset (VRMDS)

The VRMDS contains demographic, administrative and clinical data for admitted and non-admitted patients treated in Victorian Radiotherapy facilities in the public and private sector. A free online survivorship care plan (SCP) generator currently available for survivors of early-stage breast, bowel and prostate cancers is now expanding to include early melanoma, diffuse large B cell lymphoma and endometrial cancer. Advance Care Planning

Help using My Heath Record to store ACP documents. A set of national guidelines has been released provide guidance for jurisdictions, health services and health professionals about the use of My Health Record to store and access documents related to advance care planning and goals of care discussions that occur in the context of end-of-life care. While the guidelines are not written for a consumer audience, they may be useful for health professionals in supporting people wishing to use My Health Record to store and view these documents.

End of Life Essentials

Free online education modules & new video scenarios. This website provides online learning opportunities and practice resources for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals to improve the quality and safety of end-of-life care in hospitals. There are currently 10 education modules which are free to view.

Telehealth resources: Guiding principles and decision tool

Safer Care Victoria has published its Tele-health decision tool and guiding principles for using telehealth. The tool is designed to guide clinicians to make decisions in partnership with consumers about using tele-health (video or telephone) in their clinical care.

Pfizer's Centers for Therapeutic Innovation (CTI) 

Call for proposals for CTI, a unique joint drug discovery model focused on collaborating with leading academic medical centers to translate and transform concepts into breakthroughs that change patients' lives. The CTI 2021 Call is focused on identifying novel therapeutic targets with application across Pfizer's core therapeutic areas: oncology, inflammation & immunology, internal medicine and rare diseases.  To apply: Develop a 2-3 page non-confidential document outlining the scientific background and research synopsis. Submit your pre-proposal to Monash Innovation (innovation@monash.edu) by Friday, 18 June. The Pfizer submission deadline is Monday, 28 June.

Registered nurses introduction to palliative care

This course presented by Eastern Palliative Care - relevant to all care settings – and provides Division 1 and Division 2 RNs with an introduction to palliative care. It explores the comprehensive needs of the dying and their families and gives an overview of some common issues that confront professional carers on a day-to-day basis when caring for the terminally ill. More information/registrations »

Cultural safety training for medical health professionals (RACGP accredited)
