April 2021                                                                                   Vol 5 Issue 6
President's Message

Welcome Spring!

I hope everyone had a happy Passover and Easter and was able to spend quality time with loved ones. As more and more in our community get vaccinated and more normalcy returns, I feel a true sense of awakening and renewal and imagine you do, too.

We had a spectacular mental health panel to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8. Many thanks to Mary, Kristen and Suzanne Higgins for securing our panelists, and of course, a big thank you to the panelists, Dr. Maria Gorelick, Medical Director at Henderson Behavioral Health,  Dr. Thelma Tennie, founder of the Healing Arts Institute of South Florida and Dr. Marsha Brown, licensed psychologist in private practice. They provided a wealth of information in such a lovely way to help make all of our lives better.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our virtual scavenger hunt social and membership drive in March. We will be rescheduling this as soon as we are able. Follow us on social media on Facebook, on LinkedIn, and on Instagram for all the latest information.

I am excited about our April program on Human Trafficking this Monday, April 12, at noon. Human Trafficking is a worldwide problem but is particularly prevalent in our area. Join us to learn about human trafficking from two different perspectives – one local and one national. We are honored to have Reneé Trincanello, CEO of Covenant House Florida, which has served as a safe-haven for trafficked youth and Yvonne Chen, Director of Private Sector Engagement for ECPAT-USA, the leading anti-child trafficking organization in the United States, as our guests.

Our nominating committee has been working behind the scenes to assemble a slate of officers for next year’s Board that will be announced soon. We are thrilled to have so many wonderful prospective additions to the Board.

Our Scholarship Committee is in full swing and will be selecting our award recipients in the very near future. We look forward to meeting them at our June luncheon. Any and all donations to our Scholarship Fund are welcome!

I look forward to connecting with you soon.

With warm regards,

Vivian Fazio

Paradies Lagardère, the award-winning airport retailer and restaurateur in North America, has become the first concessionaire to introduce MishiPay’s innovative Scan, Pay & Go technology in the U.S. airport market.

The revolutionary shopping solution was successfully piloted and unveiled to travelers at Paradies Lagardère’s Univision travel essentials store in the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the Charlotte News and Gift store in the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

MishiPay’s Scan, Pay & Go technology is entirely contactless and frictionless and requires no additional infrastructure to capture customer engagement and sales. Using their own mobile devices, travelers simply select the items they want, scan the barcodes and pay and go - without the need to interact with staff or waste time standing in line at a register.
