Poshan Weekly is a knowledge dissemination tool intended to share research, evidence, policy and programme guidelines as well as tools on Maternal and Child Nutrition with colleagues around India.
As of 8th April, India has recorded 131,000 new COVID cases and is the third worst affected country after the United States of America and Brazil. The surge in cases requires us to be more vigilant than ever and strictly adhere to COVID appropriate behaviour. From wearing masks to sanitizing and maintaining social distance, and getting vaccinated when eligible, we must do everything we can to keep ourselves as well as those around us safe.
This is a critical time to ensure that vulnerable groups, especially women and children, continue have access to critical food, nutrition and health services, and support. Besides information about COVID-19 prevention, there also is a need to strengthen information sharing about healthy diets and nutrition and increase nutrition literacy.
The website POSHAN COVID Resources has been updated and now includes materials on the latest updates guidelines, tools and SBCC-materials related to COVID-19 and Nutrition & Food Security and ECD. Most of these were developed at national, state, or district level in India and some are regional or global ones.
We’ll keep updating the website and are fully dependent on you as a user, to share with us any materials that have not been shared previously and/or those to update. Please share those with poshancovidiitb@gmail.com or directly with us at PoshanWeekly <poshan@unicef.org> .
We hope you will find the resources useful in your work to stop the spread of COVID-19 and at the same time #StopChildMalnutritionInida.
Kind Regards,
