Niwot Elementary

Principal Corner

Dear Niwot Elementary Families,

Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will take part in CMAS testing on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. As a reminder, there is a modified schedule this year with 3rd and 5th graders only taking the Language Arts portion and 4th graders only taking the Math portion. Although this will look different this year, we are still excited to see the amazing growth these students have made during a challenging year.

Our Scholastic Book Fair kicks off on Monday. Although parents won't be able to come in and shop with their student(s) you can create an eWallet account online so you don't have to send cash. Of course cash is still an option. There is also the online option for our LaunchED students and for families who prefer to shop that way. A big thank you to our amazing Media Tech, Andrea Chen, for making this possible for our students.

The SVVSD Student Art Show will be hosted virtually this year from April 13-18. See below for details on how you can access this event.

A reminder that next Friday is another Friday Support Session. If you are interested in signing up your student(s) for this please contact the front office for availability and to sign-up. We are only taking 15 students per session. This week K,1, 2 will be from 10:30am-12:00pm and 3,4,5 will be from 1:00pm-2:30pm.

Since this is a year that none of us will ever forget, don't forget to order your yearbook. The deadline has been extended to April 19th. Please see below for the details.

Please let me know what questions you have and how we can support you.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Nancy Pitz
Principal

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting an in-person (NES students/staff only) Scholastic Book Fair from April 12th - April 23rd. Students will be able to visit the book fair twice during this two-week period.  A whopping 50% of sales will be received in Scholastic dollars to purchase new books for the Niwot Elementary library!

This year, instead of cash, we are requesting that families use eWallet. Of course cash is still an option if you choose.

A SAFE, CASHLESS WAY TO SHOP THE FAIR

Easy to set up, eWallet funds are immediately available for use at both the in-school and virtual Book Fair. Plus, family and friends can contribute too! Create an eWallet account between 03/22 - 04/23. For eWallet FAQ, click here.

Please sign up for an eWallet account below:

*We will also be offering an online book fair that will be running from April 7th - April 20th. We will receive 25% in rewards for online purchases.
St. Vrain’s Unframed Student Art Show will be hosted virtually this year from April 13-18. This virtual format allows schools to continue to showcase our students' creative work while allowing parents, school staff, and our community to celebrate alongside them. We look forward to hosting a publicly accessible event in honor of our art students and teachers. Our students' creative work will be showcased at artshow.svvsd.org from April 13-18.

We will be offering some Friday Support sessions beginning after Spring Break. These will take place each Friday (excluding the non-student contact day on April 30) with the goal to support your student and to provide a quiet place for students to come and do their work. Please know that these are not tutoring sessions. These sessions will take place in the library (and a classroom when both sessions are at the same time) and will be supervised by various staff members. We will max each session at 15 students, and you will sign-up your student/s and check space availability by calling the school office at 303.652.2828. The deadline to sign-up is the end of the school day on Thursday of the week you wish to attend. Please also know that we will open the sign-up at the beginning of each week for that Friday session. Blue Sky Bridge has worked for several years with Niwot Elementary educating students and parents on a variety of childhood issues, including abuse prevention information and resources.  This year, Blue Sky Bridge will be working with 3rd Grade specifically and parents will be receiving information from their child's teacher directly.

All Niwot parents and guardians are encouraged to click here to view a pre-recorded parent informational session and to learn more about Blue Sky Bridge - what programs and education they offer to parents and students. Caregivers also have the option to sign up for a live virtual presentation where they can ask questions and interact with a Blue Sky Bridge staff member.  Regardless of whether their child participates this year, every caregiver will benefit from the important abuse prevention resources.  Parents who have attended our in person sessions have found the information very helpful for their children of all ages - the presentation provides guidance to parents in addition to sharing information about the 3rd grade presentation the 3rd graders receive. Information is available in both English and Spanish.
