Matching Gift Supports Permanent Nets, Resurfacing & Dedicated Pickleball Courts

Hello Pickleball Peeps,
Through a series of meetings with Napa Parks & Rec, Nancy Snowden and I, the City of Napa has agreed to resurface Las Flores courts! Not only have they agreed to resurface the courts, but in addition, the Eastern Court will be re-striped for pickleball only. To finally have dedicated pickleball courts at Las Flores Park is more than exciting!!

As part of the agreement, Parks & Rec has asked our group to contribute $6.400.00, which will pay for 4 in-ground, permanent nets. We are reaching out to all of you to contribute whatever you can so we can reach our goal of $6,400.00 by July 31th.

In even more good news, an anonymous donor has stepped forward with a $2500 Matching Gift! Every dollar you donate will be doubled up to the total of $2500.

Here's how to donate: At this time, donations may be made by check only. Make your check payable to:
Napa Valley Parks & Recreation Foundation and write in the memo line: "Las Flores Pickleball".

Then mail your check to our Treasurer, Patti Martin, at:
474 Seymour Street, Napa, CA  94559.

The Steering Committee decided that mailing your check to Patti would be the best way for her to keep a record of all checks received, and to ensure that your donation goes to the LAS FLORES PICKLEBALL fund. She will deliver all checks to the Napa Valley Parks & Recreation Foundation, in-person.

The Foundation will send you a letter once they have received your donation along with their 501-C3 nonprofit information for your tax reporting purposes. If you don’t receive a letter from the Foundation, let Patti know and she will look into it.

What Rating Am I AND What Do I Need to Work on to Get to a Higher Rating, or Even Just Better?

On Saturday, April 24th, from 9am to noon, Napa Valley Pickleball will be providing our first workshop at Las Flores Park.

We will be covering what makes someone a 2.5 or a 3.0 or a 3.5 according to USAPA Skill Assessment Guide, skill by skill, discussing what constitutes doing a skill well. As each participant understands what they are good at, and sees what they need to work on, they will leave with a clearer sense of how they can achieve playing at a higher level (if that is what they want.)

Space Is Limited
Charles Zook will coordinate the effort on all 4 courts with an instructional assistant on each court. So participants can get the most from the experience, we are limiting the class size to 12 -- everyone will be on the court, no waiting or watching! If more than 12 sign-up, they will be put on a waiting list in the event someone drops out.

To Sign-up: Email Leslie Burma at leslieburma@gmail.com

2/3 Learning, 1/3 Playing Application
Once we have worked through the Skill Levels, we will break into games with similar level players. Helpful people will be available for questions and suggestions during these games.

Future Clinics
Also, keep letting us know what you would like us to be offering, because that is what we want to be offering…what you want…makes sense to me…hope to see you out there!
