St George’s Church, Great Bromley

HRH The Prince Philip,

Duke of Edinburgh

9 April 2021

‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.’ (Matthew 25.21)

Dear Friends

This photograph and the prayer below have been placed beside the font at St George’s Church. At midday on Saturday, we tolled the bell 99 times and at the same time a floral tribute was placed alongside the photograph.

This Sunday’s service, the 11th April is Parish Eucharist at 10.30am with choir. There will be a minute’s silence at the beginning, and after the service a prayer for His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, followed by the National Anthem.

We are pleased to advise you that St George’s Church is now open every day of the week, as it used to be.

Prayer for Prince Philip

God of majesty,
give rest to your servant Philip
who, having served his Queen and Country,
has passed from this life,
full of years yet strong in spirit.
As we give thanks for his life,
as Prince and husband,
as Consort and family man,
we pray that all that he has done
may continue to bear fruit
in the lives of individuals
and the life of this nation,
to your honour and glory,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
