Help High School Students "Aspire" to Career Success

The “Aspire” track of the Connect to My Future conference is the first SkillsUSA career experience designed specifically for high school students.
This event will create an authentic career-focused experienced between students and industry partners that fosters meaningful and lasting connections relevant to the student’s future career. Attention will be given to career aspirations within a cluster, narrowing down available options and bringing personal interests into focus.
WHAT:  “Aspire” track for high school students, one of three tracks that make up the “Connect to My Future” conference.
WHEN:  Wednesday, May 5, at two times: 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. ET and 12:45 p.m.-4:30 p.m. ET. Schools determine which time frame is best for them to join.
WHERE:  Join us virtually! Participants will need access to a 1:1 computer or device with Zoom video capabilities on the day of the event.
EXPECT:  During the event, high school students will examine career priorities, interact with business and industry professionals, distinguish between different career options within a field of interest and create a personal action plan to achieve their future career goals.

Teachers who register five students will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Five winners will be chosen weekly!
All students who are completers of the Aspire track will receive a T-shirt and certificate!
Teachers who register 10 students will receive a T-shirt. Those who sign up 50 students will also receive a Member Handbook, and teachers who sign up 100 or more students will receive both, plus a bundle of educational resources.

National Signing Day - May 4

On Tuesday, May 4, SkillsUSA National Signing Day will celebrate high school seniors and college/postsecondary students who have chosen to pursue a career as a professional in the skilled trades.

Local SkillsUSA chapters are encouraged to host a signing day event by inviting business partners, school administrators, teachers, elected officials, SkillsUSA alumni, family and friends to honor students signing “letters of intent” for a job offer, apprenticeship or advanced technical training. An electronic toolkit of resources is available to advisors at SkillsUSA CONNECT to assist them with planning their local chapter event. The toolkit includes items such as an event logo, an event invitation template, social media posts, a sample press release, thank you notes and an event planning checklist. To learn more, login to your account at SkillsUSA CONNECT or https://www.skillsusa.org/events-training/national-signing-day/. Please register here before April 16th.
