RDC's Sustainability Efforts Recognized with Two National Honours
RDC is proud to announce that we have been nationally recognized by Clean50 for our commitment to environmental stewardship by using sustainable technologies. In addition, the Alternative Energy Lab has recently received LEED Silver Certification by Canada Green Building Council

RDC’s Alternative Energy Initiative has been named as one of Canada’s Clean50 Top Projects for 2021. The project submitted by RDC to Clean50 highlighted initiatives such as the College’s installation of more than 4,200 solar panels, which is the largest array among Canadian post-secondary schools, as well as a combined heat and power unit, replacement of exterior lighting with new energy efficient LEDs, and the Alternative Energy Lab, a vital teaching and learning space for more than 1,000 students each year in various programs.

The College’s Alternative Energy Lab has received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification. This highlights our institution’s efforts to ensure the Lab embodies sustainability in its design, construction and ongoing operation.

It is wonderful when RDC receives this type of acknowledgement for our sustainability efforts. Most importantly, we all recognize the value of the Alternative Energy Initiative and AEL in how they help provide our learners with relevant learning experiences as they achieve their educational goals.
