Freedom from debt in Coventry

Steve* contacted Christians Against Poverty Coventry when his debts became unmanageable; a work injury caused him to stop working. He had also suffered family bereavements which caused poor mental health. We were able to help him bring his finances into order and apply for benefits.

Although he found these processes very difficult and was often angry, we helped him set up a sustainable budget and apply for a Debt Relief Order. Steve had to work hard with all the paperwork that was required - but he is now debt free! Steve is delighted & grateful, and his physical and mental health have improved greatly due to his freedom. Steve was very open to us praying for him at every visit and we encouraged his friendship with an existing Christian friend who had a tangible positive influence on him.

If you're finding budgeting tough, or are slipping into debt - contact Christians Against Poverty today for judgement-free, no-cost support on 07941 361771 or ianburton@capuk.org

Befriending changes Heather's life

Heather lost her husband 18 months ago and found herself inundated with paperwork. Good Neighbours Coventry linked Heather to volunteer Emiene, whose husband had also passed away. Emiene and Heather have shared their bereavement journey and solved the admin tasks. They've discovered a shared passion for gardening; over the phone in lockdown they planned a garden project. Getting outdoors has lifted Heather's mood and she now takes time in the garden when anxious. Heather now looks forward instead of back with anger, and really appreciates Emiene's friendship. To join Emiene in transforming someone's life, join an information session.
