Hello,

Derbyshire Dales CVS Email Newsletter

As many of us are beginning to resume a more ‘normal’ way of life there are still restrictions and guidelines in place to keep everyone safe.  Through our weekly Community Voice newsletters and our fortnightly forums messages are shared to ensure key information is being shared with communities.

If you would like to know more about when you will receive your 2nd vaccination or what the current restrictions are or need more information about home testing kits sign up to our weekly newsletter and join us at our fortnightly forums.  The next forum is on Friday 30th April at 10.00am.  Email rachel@ddcvs.org.uk for the meeting link.

Trustees are sometimes called Board Members, Committee member or Governors.

A Trustee plays a key role in a voluntary organisation.

You don’t run the day-to-day activities of the charity, but you do shape and support the organisation. Being a Trustee is a great way to give back to an organisation that you care about, helping to ensure it follows its aims and keeps financially sound.

If you are at least 18 years of age and would like to find out more about becoming a Trustee please get in touch as we will be hosting a information session on Zoom in the future.

Email gaynor@connex.org.uk or enquiries@ddcvs.org.uk

Wirksworth Heritage Centre was founded in 1984 as part of the award winning Wirksworth Project town regeneration with the remit to tell the story of Wirksworth for future generations and visitors.

Over the past few years the organisation has applied successfully to the National Heritage Lottery Fund, and was granted £1.3m to relocate to a central location in the town, renovate a listed building, making it accessible and set up a modern museum with a shop, café and supporting events.

Jacqueline Ferguson-Lee says ‘We find ourselves in an entirely new business environment and are looking for additional Trustees to join our friendly, dedicated team to help shape a sustainable future. Do you have the experience that can help us succeed? We would particularly welcome applicants with a background in Commercial; Marketing; Fundraising and the most important attribute is a willingness to be actively involved in the Heritage Centre’s development.’

Meetings/time commitment: minimum of three hours a week plus the annual AGM (1 hr), Weekly Trustee Meeting (1hr+), Weekly Operational Meeting (1hr) Subgroups as needs arise and according to area of interest and expertise.

The roles are not renumerated and we prefer Trustees to serve a minimum of 3 years.

We hold meetings in the daytime and evenings to suit availability.

People across the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales who are looking to give something back to their community and support a local charity, are invited to find out more about rewarding opportunities to volunteer in hospice shops.

Blythe House Hospicecare and Helen’s Trust are recruiting volunteers to support their shops in Bakewell, Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, New Mills and Whaley Bridge.

The retail outlets are responsible for bringing in over a quarter of the money needed every year to provide free palliative and end of life care to local patients.

On some days, the shops are not able to open or have to close early due to a limited number of volunteers.

Volunteers at the shops help with a range of tasks including sorting donations, displaying items for sale, pricing stock, managing tills and money, and supporting customers.

To find out more about becoming a retail volunteer for Blythe House and Helen’s Trust, and to apply online, visit: https://blythehousehospice.org.uk/volunt ...
